Also did I misunderstand something, isn't the i7 2700 CPU PCIe 3.0 capable? I read on another thread SandyBridge is not PCIe 3.0 enabled.

Might be a good idea to create a thread rolleyes.gif

To use PCI-E 3.0 you need Ivy Bridge.

Quick question about overclocking, didn't want to start a thread.

When you run prime95 to test your overclock how safe is it to be away from the computer? If the BSOD's can it safely remained crashed for hours or should I be there ready to reset the machine and adjust my overclock. I currently have my 2600k at 4.5Ghz at 1.35 volts because I read it is a good place to start, and I ran prime for 6 hours just fine. I tried same voltage at 4.6Ghz and it crashed within 1 hour so I'm fine with being at 4.5Ghz I don't really want to up my voltage. However I know I could technically still look to see if I could get 4.5Ghz with less volts I just haven't because I haven't wanted to stay near my computer for 6 hours. Could I run prime and leave for 6 hours and be safe even if it crashed the moment I step out the door?

There shouldn't be any problem, since the computer will be crashed. If it BSOD, it simply reboot usually, and if it froze then prime95 will stop anyway so there's no problem there.

Is the 2600 allowed?tongue.gif

Currently running Prime95 at 4,9 GHZ. Temperature are going as high as 78C. Should i lower the OC and voltage so i don't get chip degradation? Or can i leave it running?
