I got settings at 1.360v, LLC on high, and PLL at 1.85(i think) the OC wasn't stable normal LLC but I don't remember trying standard, mean to do this next time I got at his home..

Any other tip to get this CPU further ? I looked for reviews and guides but not many include a detailed guide on z77.. mostly ivy bridges.

Also whats the max temps on a D15 should be ? I thought we would be able to reach 4.8 at least, if the CPU handled it that is.

Summer is on the way ..he's concerned about the heat there are already some spikes at 71°, I told him that's ok it's just spikes, my AMD go to 72°+ spikes sometimes.. , haven't really check during summer will see this year.

What is the max SAFE temp for this CPU ? 71° seems low.. and max safe voltage 1.360 right ?

Help is greatly appreciated smile.gif

Oh and I was surprised how easy it was to OC.. like really ? not even mutliplier setting?? I don't get it.. the gigabytes BIOS feels horrible to me, I'm so used to Asus.. Asus Mobo's rock for that.. I'm literally an Asus fan boy and proud to be, lol. tongue.gif

Maybe I did something wrong but for that amount of voltage and LLC on high, being stuck at 4.4ghz.. I thought sandy bridge were overclocking kingz !

It could be about your voltage settings or just silicon lottery to not be able to get it higher.
Spikes at 71C with stress test program, which stresses the CPU way more than it usually gets stressed, isn't even close to max temps. But that also depends how high temps in the room rises when summer comes. But I stopped upping voltage&hz when I started to get close to 90C with stress test, just to be on the safe side with everything. On heavy usage my temps just get to max 65C smile.gif
So theres plenty of room to up that voltage a bit if needed.

You should try stress testing with prime95 and see if it's stable and what the temps are.

It was stable 1 hour and pretty much same temps ! of course it needs more stress testing but the temps were the concern, what temp most people here consider as max temp (for core?) or for just CPU on hwinfo ?

If I would want to improve my bros computer, then I would spend that 150 bucks, otherwise I dont see point to upgrade to such small increase. Could spend on something more beneficial.
