First time posting on here, build specs in sig!
One thing I've always wondered is why my motherboard (see sig) doesn't report core voltage properly in CPU-Z. It usually says 1.044V in CPU-Z. Even BIOS doesn't match what Gigabyte Easy Tune says. I think BIOS is the one to trust. But Easy Tune reports higher so I make sure that one doesn't go above 1.42V for Vcore. I wonder if I have more headroom with my chip.

I've had it so long (and don't care if I kill the chip) I've recently decided to up my DVID voltage and turn on LLC and managed to get another 5% out of my overclock. Wondering if I should push for higher than 4.6GHz.

Agreed and I'm not using the software to overclock. Just trying to understand what my Vcore is actually at. I know it changes depending on the frequency and power savings modes which is why it would be nice to have a Windows tool that told me the voltage.

So I'll continue to trust to BIOS voltage as the maximum voltage for now... That means I have more head room to overclock since I'm <1.37V and temps are below 60C.

1.044V sounds like an idle voltage to me. Put some load on it by running Prime95 and then watch the core voltage in CPU-Z.

Nope. Even with the CPU under load is stays at 1.044V.

Guys, hello. Something random. I remember with my 2600k I'm a newb at OCing. I didn't really want to bother much. But I did some things with my 2600k. Now that I need to sell it I remembered that I did a 4.2GHz OC with just 1.17v is that like normal or am I crazy?

For only 4.2 GHz, I think that's possible.

Hey guys, I know this thread is old but I am a bit excited as I just upgraded to a 2600K from a Q9650. Am Prime testing right now, ~an hour stable at 4.8 w/ 1.38 in BIOS, 1.368 in windows. LLC Lvl 2 on Asrock Extreme4. I am pleasantly surprised with my OC results so far. On stock vcore I was able to up the multi to 44 and seemed stable (just tested for ~30 mins to make sure i could boot at next multi.) Great temps, haven't seen anything over 71C. Seems like I found a higher binned chip. Lucky me...
