Can anybody give me some info on temps please.
I'm using a Noctua NH-D14 with stock fans at max. I've included a screenshot of hwmonitor showing my cpu temps at load, while stress testing last night even after 10 runs the temps was going no higher than what we now see with 3 runs so thats my max temp really.

Ambient temp next to pc is 22c.
3 cores are are very close but there's 1 core that's cool.
There's a 7c temp difference between my coolest core and my next coolest core, there's allso a temp difference between my coolest core and my hottest core of 12c.
Is this normal to have such wide varients of temps on cores with the 2500k or would you say i need to reseat my cooler?
its normal..it depends on the chip

my costa rica's 2/3 core were 7c hotter than the 1st core..the 4th is between those most of the time..

mine right now have a gap of 2-3c..they work independently so..temps may vary

Hello!
Today is finally my Sandy Bridge system completed, I've read a lot of guides for several weeks, and has decided that 4.5ghz would be wonderful, so after reading all the guides I think I've found a good start.
I have not dared to change anything in the bios yet, I do not want to sett settings that can damage the computer.
So I ask you pros to look at my settings if it looks good?

Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
BCLK/PEG Frequency: 100.33
Turbo Ratio: By All Cores
By All Cores: 45
Internal PLL Overvoltage: Disabled (I have read that it should be disable)
Memory Frequency: 1600Mhz
EPU Power Saving Mode: Disabled

>OC Tuner

>Dram Timing Control
-Dram CAS# Latency: 9
-Dram RAS# To CAS# Delay: 9
-Dram RAS# Pre Time: 9
-Dram RAS# Act Time: 24
-Dram Command Mode: ?

>CPU Power Management

(Digi + VRM)
Load-line Calibration: Ultra High (Or auto?)
VRM Frequency: Auto
VRM Spread Spectrum: Disabled
Phase Control: Extreme
Duty Control: T.Probe
CPU Current Capability: 100%
Cpu Voltage: Manual Mode
CPU Manual Voltage: 1.27+
DRAM Voltage:1.50
VCCSA Voltage: Auto
VCCIO Voltage: Auto
CPU PLL Voltage: Auto
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHA: Auto
DRAM CTRL REF Voltage on CHA: Auto
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHB: Auto
DRAM CTRL REF Voltage on CHA: Auto
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled (My previous experience of overclocking is to always have it on disable?)

Cpu = I5 2500k
Motherboard = P8p67
Memory = Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, 2x4GB, LP
Cpu cooler = Noctua NH-D14

Many thanks in advance from a paranoid old man for tips and info, etc.

Made a terrible mistake earlier, at about 6am when i'd just woke up!
I set cpu volt offset to .100, long story short the pc rebooted froze at bios and never turned on again, i blew the cpu as i took it all back to the shop and they tested for me, cpu was faulty so it was replaced, i take it i killed it as after changing settings it never lived again.
On a happier note all my cores are now within 1.3c of each other.

Just upgraded from an Athlon II X4 630 2.8ghz.

This i5-2500k is an absolute beast. I'm also at a 24/7 100% stable error free 4.5 OC.

I do have one core that's apparently 4-5c cooler at all times.

Yes I would agree these 2500's are fantastic overclockers.

Holy bananas!! While that vcore is what I'd expect for 4.8Ghz, i'm not too sure if i'll keep that for 24/7 ... (that's just me anyway- I'm paranoid ). great OC though!

5Ghz for the epeen, 4.5Ghz @ ~1.3v for everyday use

Ya, that is just for minor benching. This chip I have seems to the love the voltage though, on the biostar I had it in windows @ 5G only thing it would run was the desktop and super PI.I think heat was a factor at that point.

So my second 2500k will crash at load with same settings as other chip was set at, tried cmos clearing ect, upped the volts, llc ect, no 4.5ghz for me anymore.
Even at 4.4ghz at 1.4v with everything enabled or on extreme/high it fails stress testing, 4.3ghz is hit and mis even at 1.4v, 4.2ghz is ok at 1.3v bummer, lost 300mhz, serves me right for killing a chip!
So 4.2ghz turbo it is.
