...and with that said and done! biggrin.gif

If someone could tell me, what is the typical Temp at Stock? Last I checked mine it was holding at around 33.5c within the BIOS, but I haven't got any decent Temp Monitors installed in windows yet. For some reason, I sort of had the impression that it should run a bit lower then 33; especially with a pair of Gentle Typhoons on a Corsair H50.

Or is 33c right around the average ballpark?

Lastly, whats the MAX Safe Temp that I should be watching for once I start tweaking the overclock?

Anyone here come from an i7 950 to the i5 2500K? If so what are your thoughts? Was it worth it to upgrade?

I'm building a second gaming rig for the kids and I'm either keeping my i7 950 or letting them have it and build the i5 2500K for myself.

Also what mother boards do you guys reccommend for a i5 2500K CPU?

I'm all for an ASUS or MSI mobo. Is there any boards that come PCIe 3.0 SLI or Crossfire ready? And if so I'll assume it's PCIe 2.0 backward compatible?

Also does anyone know the difference in performance compared with the i5 2500K to the i7 2600K CPU with HT?

My system fails to post with anything higher than a 4.2Ghz OC, the problem appears to be related to the fact my Mobo has Dynamic V core. (if anyone has the same mobo *(in my sig) and has managed higher, care to share any settings?)

You will go crazy trying to run at Asus reported voltages. The boards are DIFFERENT. A higher bios voltage setting results in the same actual Vcore on a Gig board.

That makes no sense to me tongue.gif.
I've scoured the net to see what settings people are using to reach 4.5Ghz on this mobo, and none of the posts to date has been even remotley helpful in exceeding 4.2.

I know its possible because - > http://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/Intel-Core-i5-OC-Bundle-Gigabyte-GA-Z68A-D3-B3-Intel-Core-i5-2500K-4-5Ghz-Xigmatek-HDT-S963-Cooler-8GB-Corsair-1600Mhz-Vengeance-125p1128.htm this is the same components as my own build, but they wont let me know the bios config frown.gif

Will this work?? I'm all new to this... spent all of 40 seconds in the bios and got overclocked to 4.5ghz w/ H60 @1.28v, never above 54 for BF3, never above 65 on prime 95 on small FFTs test... Coming from c2 955 I struggled to keep at 3.7 at 1.42v!

Set the voltage at 1.44 & I bet it runs first try. My bios is set at 1.54 & CPUZ shows 1.22v Vcore at light load. Coretemp shows.9 Vcore at idle.

/facepalm

Found a guide by Sin, then realised i'd turned off CPU LLC over-volt turned off (stupid guide I followed @ bit-tech said to disable everything!)

Currently at: > http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2148278.

I've manually offset the voltage +0.060 to after some BSOD 101's at auto and normal dvid.
CPUz is showing 1.104v idle but both Coretemp and HWiNFO64 are both showing 1.2960v idle and 1.3811 under 100% load with idle 30C and 100% 58-60C.

Now I know what the problem was I'm going to push to 46 on the mufti and then start tweaking voltages till its 24/7 stable.
