No OC till I learn more about this setup biggrin.gif Yeah it was the first thing i did when I put together everything and I already had the latest bios file on a usb stick so I updated bios and loaded optimised.

That behavior turns out due to Turbo Ratio setting. Auto, All Cores, Per Core. All Cores setting does the behavior on my previous post. Per Core makes it more like AMD turbo core but it sure triggers lot more than All Cores setting, even %1 cpu usage makes a core go nuts. And oddly enough, AUTO makes it run 3400 all the time. even thou the multiplier is 33, it reads 3400 in Windows7 biggrin.gif Maybe ambient temp makes it possible for my mediocre Noctua NH-U12P SE to cool it enough so chip thinks it can go crazy.

My initial and most important problem was not being able to install some games due to "file writing errors" and that was about Ram setting and CPU offset mode. I fixed those and all is well. Well except for HDD thrashing at Windows amblem --> Login screen. I got a Sempron 2600 + Asus A7N8X-VM machine with 80gb IDE disk and Windows XP on it, essentially all software is same, Comodo Firewall, Avira Antivirus and it actually loads into XP in the same time as my sig rig without HDD thrashing. I miss slow cpus that didn't need fast HDDs. It's like my W7 tries to load everything at the same time and HDD goes crazy to read for all applications at once biggrin.gif

U know sometimes i miss my q9550 comparing to this new tech thats around... I got myself phenom 840 to have just for fun cause i miss old fashion bios oc and as it seams that second system runs faster than my current one...
But thats just me...
It like i love old cars from 60s but with few upgrades from new cars...
Honestly i5 2500k is good cpu but without much difference between q9xxx seres or first gen of intel i5/7 or amd 9x5 series...

My quarrel is with Windows trying to load everything at the same time. Load them in order dammit. Or at least when you have a mechanical HDD.

Lol, I still have my p166(non-mmx) for Jumper OC ! With the legendary add-on Voodoo1 on an S3 Virge ! That's totally an original Tomb Raider machine biggrin.gif

This is my first (light) overclock project.
Why do i have the feeling im doing something wrong here?

I got a stable OC @ 4.3GHz with my 2500K and Coolermaster HP212+ on 1.240 V.
VCore Load-line Calibration @ 25% and VCore Phase Control to Optimized
CPU voltage in offset mode with minus alot and i havent had a BSOD ever.
I will try to go lower with the voltage, but im wondering if my idle voltage can be lower then this (0.928V)..

When i do some research i find alot of OC's with much higher voltage @ 4.2/4.3GHz
Am i wrong or is my cpu and MB just awsome!?

You appear to be one of the lucky ones 4.5 @ 1.378v for me. 1.27 was about my stock volts tongue.gif (but my motherboard sucks)
