I also have speed step enabled; however my CPU multipliers are never down clocked when I'm on idle. Any ideas?

thanks!

Probably because of the version of cpu-z you're running, try downloading the latest CPU-Z from here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Thanks! New version did show up correct OCed data as well as the downclocked idle value:
CPUZPC.jpg

Voila. The multipliers use change during the test and I'm not sure about the voltage offset (+.105v) but so far so good. I'll run a rest at 4Ghz on Monday while I'm at work and try 4.5Ghz if all goes well.

I suppose I'll join even though I loved my $90 quad core Athlon though my broke a$$ college days. But it is true that SB is kickin butt. Do I need to submit anything official or can you use my "Sandy Stable Club" membership towards this one?

Mhmm I can't seem to find a single guide that puts it simply to a complete noob. I'd just like to get my 2500k to 4.5Ghz but there's so many different things you can tweak, and it's tough finding a specific configuration to try. I've read a lot of guides but none that dealt with my motherboard.

As I understand, all I'd need to do is change the multiplier and increase the CPU voltage to about 1.3v and the rest will take care of itself?

Just look for a template for your board. A lot of people use that board and you should have no issues whatsoever getting to 4.5. 4.6 and beyond is where some skill, luck(cpu), good board and power supply come into play. Just find a good sweet spot using offset that puts you around 1.32 under load with 4.5.

Couldn't find any... so I just tried the included motherboard OCed profile. I started Prime95 and this is what I got:
CPUZPC-1.jpg
I know that CoreTemp and CPU-Z are disagreeing on the frequency, I may need to update CoreTemp to the latest version.
EDIT: nevermind, changes nothing, CPU-Z is showing my stepped down multiplier/frequency but CoreTemp's latest is still showing 4.4Ghz.

Temps under stress seem higher than what I heard, and that's only after less than a minute of stressing.
Room temp is 25C, idle CPU temp is between 32 and 35C.

What I'm guessing is that the stock OCing profiles bump up the voltage a shade too much, and I may have to try it manually to find my stable spot. Am I completely misleading myself or does it seem about right?

... or do I need to get myself a D14? smile.gif

EDIT: played some Skyrim and logged on the CoreTemp data. Max temp at 4.4Ghz was 62C. I think that's pretty decent, especially given my hot room and the light cooling in my case (1 x front intake, 1 x side intake, 1 x rear exhaust).

this is really good: http://www.overclock.net/t/968053/official-the-sandy-stable-club-guides-voltages-temps-bios-templates-inc-spreadsheet/2240#post_14466483

i have the same cpu and a very similar mobo to you. i haven't been able to get past 4.1Ghz yet, but i think my case is a rarity. sucks for me lol. hopefully you wont be in the same boat as me and you can get to 4.5Ghz easy. try the presets in your board btw, probably the easiest way if you dont have much of a clue what you're doing wink.gif
