Good for you turrican9 Is this chip a better clocker?
My new 2600k (previous burned with MOBO) is a better clocker, thanks God. Now i'm holding at 4.7 with 1.344. When before i need it about 1.368 or more.

Good times

I was lucky, because a friend of mine had some trouble with his Sabertooth P67 system. And he came to me with his computer. He does not overclock. First he said he had a 2500K and agreed we could switch, if his was a better overclocker than mine.

However, it turned out he had a 2600K. And we agreed we could switch anyway and I could pay him a little for the switch.

The tragic thing is I destroyed two of my USB flash drives while fickling with his computer. Turned out he had connected his front USB ports to the Firewire connector on his motherboard

Anyway, I'm almost in my second hour of Prime 95 Blend Custom 6000MB on my new 2600K. 4.8GHz and Vcore is fluctuating between 1.376 - 1.408v according to HWiNFO. So looks like a good enough chip to me. My 2500K was terrible. I never got it Prime95 Blend stable at 4.8GHz. Maybe if I had given it 1.490 - 1.500v Vcore under load. But I gave up. It needed about 1.430 - 1.450 for 4.7GHz.

Also, I think I should be able to get this 2600K stable at 5GHz if I disable HT. I tried it, and temps dropped alot. But it will probably take 1.47 - 1.48v

Right now I'm looking for a 12 hours + Blend run at 4.8GHz and HT Enabled

So now I should add myself to the Club

That is exactly when am i. I think i can go for 4.8 if i raise the vcore up to 1.368. But i don't think that the extra voltages and heat is worth it.

So have you tried disabling HT to see where that will get you temp and Vcore wise?

I run it with HT off. Mainly for the temps and the lower vcore. ANd when i need i just enable it.
I guess if i enable HT i will have to pump the vcore up 1.352 to gain stability.

Now i'm using:
-0.030 with Ultra High.
Normal load use 1.336, on game peaks 1.344 and blending has tiny peaks of 1.352. I only tested with 4 hours blend. But had resisted about 4 hours of GTA IV, thats enough for me.

The thing is that when i buy this chip i didn't know that the only diff between the 2500k and the 2600k was the HT. Then probably I probably would have chosen 2500k.
But back on topic.

I prefer higher clocks than threads. Probably if i'm in the mood i will try 4.8 at 1.368 just for fun.

/off
Yesterday i noticed that GTA IV reach 98% of CPU usage on 4.7. This game is insane.
/off
