Crysis 2 vsync issue

Hey guys,

I am launching Crysis 2 in steam, and I have patched v1.9 with the dx11 and high res textures packs. When I launch Crysis 2 it opens in fullscreen, and I have vsync set to enabled. My monitor refresh rate is 60Hz. However, using fraps as my fps monitor, vsync caps the frames at 50 instead of 60. When I alt+tab out of the game (for example at the end of a round to look on the internet/whatever) it puts the game in a window instead of fullscreen, and for some reason vsync will then cap the frames at 60. As soon as I alt+enter back into fullscreen, vsync reverts back to capping at 50 frames. In order for vysnc to cap at 60 frames when crysis 2 is in fullscreen, I have to manually disable vsync, apply the setting, and then manually enable it again and then apply the setting again. I have to do this every single time I am in fullscreen.

Basically, how the HELL do i fix this? It's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and just incase you are wondering, my computer CAN run crysis 2 at 60fps with vsync on.

How are you getting 60 fps with DX11 Ultra?

i can't even get 50 and i'm using a much lower resolution.

It's 50hz @ 1080p in DX11. Was the same with Crysis 1 DX10.

Pisses me off more because I can't play in full screen; my monitor doesn't like 50hz.

@th3illusiveman

I'm not running it at ultra, most of the settings are at extreme, apart from water, particles and something else that i have at very high, but i do have dx11 and high res textures on.

@OverTheBelow

ah, ok it's a dx11 thing

@BlackandDecker

I see, will try right now.

Doesn't happen with all DX11 games, just Cryengine 2/3 games.

tried changing app settings in nvidia control panel, still caps frames at 50. Does this also happen to you guys then?
is the difference of 10 fps even affecting your game play? I'd understand if you were going 10fps too slow and it was messing up your 3d visions but the difference between 50 and 60 fps is negligible and really only affects your e-peen

Yea, I can see your point but for me play at 60fps is just more enjoyable than at 50, and a little bit more smooth. But it's not even about that. It's just about the fact that if I desire to play at 60fps, I should be able to, and there shouldn't be some stupid restriction like this to stop me. It's just stupid. Since this game has come it has not been working properly in most aspects, hell, even now with dx11 I can't even launch it at 60fps. How do people with gtx 590s or 6990s feel? They could easily run this full hd or more at ultra dx11 and high res textures at 60fps vsync, but they can't because it's screwed. Anyway I've had my little rant, I'm just not very impressed about everything in and to do with this game, it's all just been poorly organised and poorly put together.

I hear you on that, i just had to re-install the game because the 3d got all messed up following the most recent update

does it go over 50 fps with vsync off?

are you using the crysis console command to display your FPS?

does the FPS increase while you are not using FRAPS?

doesn't happen with me. maybe a triple buffering issue.
i highly suggest you turn off vsync during multiplayer and reduce your settings so that ur fps is always 60 or higher for best pwnage
biggrin.gif

in single player though, turn on vsync and crank that s*** up
