Intel HD3000(overclock) vs NVidia 9500GT(stock)

Thread Starter
I have a problem, which one is, in your opinion, better? The NVidia 9500GT at stock or a Sandy Bridge HD3000 (highest end GPU). The NVidia 9500GT is PNY and has 1GB of DDR3 RAM. This is assuming that ALL HARDWARE INCLUDING THE CHIPSET will be the same regardless.

9500GT would probably be faster, but it might be kind of close.

Intel integrated graphics performs at a lower level than pretty much any discrete card created in the last 5 years.

If you could overclock the HD3000 by 100% what would it be compared to?

9500 GT, easy.

A friend has a 2500k with no graphic card, and when i added my old 9400 GT, it could run many more games and with higher FPS/detail.

One last question, is the better speed of the 9500GT due to its dedicated RAM?

It's more a matter of architectures. Intel has never made good graphics engines (game-wise, they're excellent for business tho). A CPU has 2-6 cores. a GPU has way more than that (a lowly card like a 9500 GT has 32, and a midrange like my 450 GTS's have 192 cores) hence they have more power to graphics. Plus, better graphics memory (plus it's faster and it has dedicated access), and overall, dedicated usage (GPUs process graphics only, CPU process AI/physics/other stuff) makes them way better than integrated graphics.

Intel has gone a long way improving graphics, but Nvidia/A...MD (they will always be ATI for me) still are the leaders on that field.

The HD 3000 seems to be on par performance wise with an Ati 5450, so I'd say its probably faster then a 9500gt, although I'm not sure how that card stacks up against the current gen.

a 9500gt is over 50% faster than a 5450. the 5450 is a dinky 80sp card with only 64 bit memory. the 9500gt is basically the same as the 8600gts which was a little faster than the 120sp 3650.
