Yeah sorry about not posting here in awhile. Things have gotten a bit crazy with my family. My dad had some news that hit home for me about his prostate cancer and I've had to part out systems to help pay for my travel back and forth from my place to my parents an awful lot. As you can imagine, having a brand new truck, and paying for the gas to travel 150+ miles on simi-often basis kinda sucks down your $$$ flow pretty quick.
So in short: my folding has come to a crawl. I'm still folding on a 1090T but it's not getting the ppd that I should.
As of right now: my rack is looking pretty depressing. I sold 1 of the cases, the monitor, and have 1x 2600k left which is fine. I still have the other components just no CPU's.
List in order of importance for the overhaul:
1) update / upgrade my KVM system and install dual 22inch screens. Also a rollout keyboard and mouse / track pad is a must. I'm tired of always moving my extra usb keyboard over to it so this will be a very serious setup on this part. Now with a KVM system, they don't allow dual monitors so I'm going to use the dual-head-to-go and merge them into one virtual screen. The point to the dual screens will be to allow me to remote into the other systems and constantly monitor their progress from one screen. It's seems a bit over the top, but that's just the way I am.
2)I'm looking to get my Media Server up to snuff first. Right now, it controls everything in my place and it really needs a good overhaul. I have to get a case that can hold all my hard drives. As it stands I'm just stacking them and it's just not going to cut it. Along with a new case, I'll be upgrading the psu. That is a 430 watt thermaltake *i know...* which has lasted me 5 years but it's really time to get serious with it. my AMD quad core is just fine and with the 9800GT in it, there wont need to upgrade those.
3) Start working with some 2p systems. :-D As Folding@home has changed things, I've decided to invest in a few of these rigs and see what I can do. :-D I haven't settled on what I want to do as far as hardware, but I've seen stats for 2p and 4p systems and I can decide on that when I come to it. Just know that I have 4 cases more than happy to house some 2p/4p action.
4) overhaul the fan cooling on every case. As much as I love having my 4u cases, the fans on them are so loud that it makes it painful when watching movies. So I'll be investing in some very serious cooling solutions. Once I get started on the 2p / 4p systems, I'll take a good hard look at very very quiet cooling. I'm tired of hearing fans whirling. If I need to install a fan controller on each one, so be it, but the noise i had, isn't going to happen anymore.
5) Custom OCN paint job on the side panels. I have a professional artist that would be willing to airbrush w/e I want on the sides for me, so I would thinking I would get them air-brushed and have OCN on the side with a bunch of F@H stuff and things like that. :-D maybe some members names who helped me along in getting this project to where it is. :-D
If anybody has some ideas or suggestions, feel free to say them now because I'm going to start buying parts soon and get this thing off the ground and rollin'!
