That's weird, we have the same proc, same RAM and same mobo. This means neither of us are unique frown.gif

you've got me there, but I actually received an AM3 mount for my Apogee GTZ just haven't found/made the time to swap all the W/C gear from the 775 board to this one. Sorta sucks because I can't get the CPU over 3.8GHz on all cores without overheating at full load, but I've always been more about the RAM throughput and it's nice that this board can do 3000MHz CPU-NB without a problem. I had it at 3200MHz too and wasn't 100% stable, just needs more than 1.425v I guess.

Looks like there was a new BIOS update just released for Win8 support thumb.gif

At the high end of clocking AMD chips they just dont like anything over 55C in my experience.

I agree this board really does shine @ NB overclocking it allowed me to do 3000+ @ 1.35v. Very cool!

I feel yah on the watercooling headache. For instance I now have 2 MCW60's in my loop that have nothing to do! I just got rid of 2 x 4830's and only run 1 7770 atm that doesnt really make sense to water cool... Ive just been to lazy to remove the swifttechs. I may* use them if i can figure out how to get voltage to the 7770 but no luck yet. I was gonna crossfire but ive read the 4x slot would hinder crossfire performance by 5% or even more so im not sure about that either...

Maybe selling my Thuban to try an FX processor in this board. So far it clocks my Thuban better than the Asus deluxe did. I will have to see how the FX series does.

Got my ASRock 990FX Extreme 4 comin now, waitin oin UPS driver to pull up...lol Ive got an AMD 965BE. I got it in an MSI NF980 G65 right now, but that thing has been pain in azz since day 1. And gettin to 4.0 not easy and requires way to much voltage, keepin temps down with Antec 620 cooler not over 54 with prime, I think the voltage part of board was bad from beginning, these boards where RMA's all over the place, anyhow I'm hopin this ASROCK will be a better clocker and play nice with the 965, fingers crossed and I'm hopin to get to know and swap info with you all when I get some.....PEACE be safe and Yes thats me in my avatar 1987 Studio Lounge Westland Michigan with my band HOOKER. Now I tweak on my pc and rebuild it now and then....lol:specool:

Advise needed...I'm about to order a new MB this weekend and I'm stuck between the Asrock EX 4 and the Asus M5A99FX R2.0 (US10.00 dollar difference on Amazon).

I will be installing an FX-8120 that I plan to OC to 4 ghz just by using the multiplier, also will be installing a 6870 video card (most likely I will be getting another card at the end of this year so I can have a crossfire setup) and I also have some Corsair Vegeance 1600mhz ram (2x4gb).

I like that the Asrock has the legacy IDE port since I still have quite a few legacy drives and that will make my life a little bit easier since If I do get this board I will be adding a IDE hot swap bay to my case in order to connect the old drives.

I do have some concerns regarding the EX4 since I have read that some folks had a hard time installing drivers and the software that came with the board, also some people having issues with the sound and others had issues with the Bios.

Would you guys recommend this board over the Asus? and to you EX 4 owners, how satisfied are you with the board? also, how good is the UEFI Bios in the Asrock since most agree that the Asus Bios is excellent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since as I mentioned before, I plan on buying the MB this weekend.

Thanks
