nope I messaged 3 other owners off this forum who own the 990FX and they have the same issues

Well got my Extreme 9 and low and behold usb ports on back panel are dead. I really wasn't impressed by the quality. Heatsinks are tiny and look cheap. Southbridge got hot to the touch. Thank god it had a issue and the retailer not only accepted rma, but allowed me to get store credit instead of sending a new one. My 890FX Deluxe 4 seemed alot sturdier and of better quality. Don't think I'll be trying Asrock again anytime soon.

You mean your Northbridge heatsink which is beside your CPU?

No, I mean the southbridge heatsink at the lower right corner of the board, beside the sata 3 ports. It has about 1/3 of the mass as my Sabertooth Rev.1 southbridge heatsink, which has never gotten warm let alone hot to the touch.
Extremely disappointed in the quality of this board, which is supposed to be their flagship AMD mobo wth.gif

Hi all,

I need some help. I have been running a Vishera 8350 oc'ed to 4.7 stable on a 890fxa-gd70. I had problems however with cold boots so I decided to upgrade the MB to the extreme9. The install was easy and everything boots fine. I have now oc'ed the 8350 to 4.8 stable and am running 16gig of geil running at the XM1 profile settings at 1866.

Here is the problem - since upgrading my MB my FPS in games have dropped dramatically. For example, in R02 I now drop to between 35-40 where previously with old board I never went below 62. I have similar results with BF3.

Here are my system specs.

8350 Vishera - oc'ed 4.8 stable on 1.4 volts
16gig ram dual running in dual channel mode at 1866 using XM1 profile
Cooler master gold 1000 watt power supply
dual hd 6980 running in crossfire.

Another piece of information that might be helpful is I used sysprep.exe to mount my hdd to the new MB instead of a clean windows install.

Thanks,

StratDoc

That sounds like it should be an awesome setup.
Off the top of my head, which slot is the second gpu plugged into? Crossfire slots are 0 and 3.

might as well goto the source with my drivers problem. am i doing something wrong or?..... i installed the lastest all in one driver for my asrock 990fx extremem3 but windows isnt using them. most of my devices are using microsoft drivers and not amd. and when i try to update or point them to a folder i get a blue screen or a crash or it just says the best drivers are installed....

cpu 8350
bios 1.50
this all started when i moved from nvidia gpu to crossfire 7950s. so this might have been happening before then i just never noticed.

ASrock boards are really full featured but they should really ditch the brown pcb for a matte black one, this is the only reason that I went of the gigabyte 990FX instead as I really did love my asrock z77 fatality professional

I agree completely with you. I really want to see it in person before I order one and be disappointed. My son has the UD3 and it looks awesome.
