Stage Two: Cleaning & Cutting
Got my Storm Scout! Used, but in good shape. It'll just take a bit of cleaning. wink.gif
Before:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26034
And after:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26035

Here's the bare case, ready to be mutilated. smile.gif
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26036

Now to remove the HDD cage.
Before:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26037
And after:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26038

And part of the top bay taped off so I can Dremel it to be able to fit the HD5870...
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26039

Some Dremel action:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26040

And after some sanding:

picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26042
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26043

Also cut off the front grill to improve airflow:

Stage Three: Painting & Visuals
Ok, so since the red of the HD5870 doesn't really match my color scheme, I decided to cover it up with a bit of carbon fiber vinyl. Here's the original card:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26048

And after I applied the vinyl:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26049
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26050
Looks a lot better, doesn't it?

The original plan was to go strictly black and white on the inside:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26051
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26052
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26053

But I decided to scrap it for a more rugged/icy look:
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26054
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26055
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26056

The final painted frame, with the new Lian Li cage!
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26057
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26058
picture.php?albumid=4831&pictureid=26059
My careful masking tape job payed off. The lines look nice and neat. biggrin.gif

Good job, you chose good (at least in my opinion) on the rugged-icy look, rather than just white.

This is good. The only thing I don't like is the rugged 5.25 bay area. It would make sense for something like the HAF series but it doesn't quite match the cleaner exterior.
