PCIE 3.0 for AM3+ ?

Thread Starter
hey guys just wondering if any of you have heard if there will be any 3.0 boards coming out in the future? there are allready 2 z68 boards out that will be supporting it. Even though sandybridge does not support it offically i guess they were able to hardwire it in or somthing?? Maybe they can do it with am3+ boards
the two boards for z68 are MSI and ASROCK

I wouldn't worry about it... I mean 2.0 isn't being fully saturated yet and x8 slots still hold there own.

but I wouldn't be surprised if they dont release some boards with 3.0 later on, I mean BD isn't even here yet.

Yup.

PCIe3.0 is only important if you're using a PCIe USB3.0 card...or otherwise simply need things with higher numbers.

thought you guy should have a look at this:
http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/SABERTOOTH_990FXGEN3_R20/#specifications

it's finality here the spec's are so cool, not x1 pci-e 3 but x3 (x16,x8, x8 ). i do wonder how this baby is going to handle for bandwidth.
i probability going to get it and make use of the pci-3 x2 (x16, x16). i know that the spec aren't much different the the first sabertooth which i have, but i want to be ready for pcie-3 for the next g-card's i get. i have 2x phy gt 550 O.Ced and saving up for a upgrade. to start off they'll be just fine with the backward compatibility.

what do you guys think about the 5.2 gt/s bandwidth, do you think it's going to optimize x2 pci-e 3 x16 with the current am3+ cpu's?

would my fx-4100 handle x2 pci-e 3 x16?

is there any point of upgrading from a sabertooth to a newer sabertooth?
