Nexus S or LG Optimus Black?

Thread Starter
I'm going to get either of these.

Keep in mind I want to listen to a lot of music, and as such the fact that the Nexus S has no MicroSD slot makes it complicated to store more stuff in the future.

And then it also seems like the Nexus S's camera has inferior quality, especially with the audio.

And since I'm at it, would the better CPU on the Nexus S really benefit me that much over the LG Optimus Black?

So which should I get?

I just ordered a Nexus S so I could have vanilla Android and get updates first & fast, etc. I chose that over hardware. Besides the fact that from what I've read, dual cores don't have much advantage in the real world other than, supposedly, with some 3D games.

An alternative is you could invest in an iPod Classic for your music. Seems like a reasonable alternative...

I would go for the nexus S. Google Music when it is released can be used to store your music so the lack of a micro SD slot wouldn't be missed as much.

First of all, keep in mind it's the LG Optimus Black, and not the LG Optimus 2X.

Wouldn't this use much of my phone's Internet plan? I only have 100MB each month to use...

Also, buying an MP3 player isn't really an option, as I really want to buy an Android phone, and besides that I already carry enough stuff around on my pockets so it would be a bit inconvenient...

If you only get 100mb a month, why would you want an android?

The speed difference in using the phone is really noticed when going to dual core. I had a Galaxy S, and now have a Galaxy S2, and the speed difference is insane when doing anything.

Check out the Galaxy S2, it also has a micro SD slot.

Yeah, I looked at the Galaxy S2, nice phone. I still picked the Nexus S over it so I can use the vanilla Android. XD

Thanks, seems like I might be going with the Nexus.

As for the Galaxy SII, I really can't afford that much, I'm actually getting the Nexus S at a discounted price, that is one of the main things why I considered it at all. Otherwise I would've just gone with the LG Optimus Black.

Well, I don't think apps will waste that much bandwidth... Or maybe I'm wrong? I've never owned an Android before and don't know anyone who has one.

I'm even planning to use Opera Mini with it's "compressed website" abilities to save bandwidth. I already do that on my Nokia 5800...

And I don't see how apps syncing and such could waste much. Hell, even using Google Maps (which has to download the maps on the spot) I don't see it using much.

However, if I'm wrong, then please do say so before I make my purchase...

My dad is a super light user and just got his first smartphone (same phone as me) and is at about 50 to 60mb of data midway through his billing cycle.

If you feel like you are going to use more than your allocated data, use WiFi whenever possible.
