P5kpl-am/ps & E5200 OC

Hello and good morning, if its morning for you.

Im trying to overclock my E5200, but i can only put it at like 240mhz FSB with 12.5 multiplier. Iv read the E5200 overclocking thread and it shows it can go well over 3.3ghz stable. Max i managed to run was about 3.1ghz. Iv tried to set multiplier to 6x and gone bus to 280mhz, PC wouldnt start. Problem i have is that PC wont boot up after restart, no POST. Iv tried tons of different things, but im noob at OC and would like some tips. My FSB:DRAM is 3:5.

EDIT: Okay i OC-ed my CPU to 2889.7mhz. And i noticed my dram frequency went from 336mhz to 385mhz, could the problem that over 3.1ghz my memory wants to go over 400mhz? Anyway how do i bypass it then and change FSB:DRAM ratio. Also i have speedstep disabled in bios but CPU-Z shows x6 multiplier when idle. And once when i went 280mhz FSB my PC gave me beep codes, i looked the beep codes up and it showed that it was caused by memory test failure. (1long, 3 short, AMI bios)

Are you giving it any more voltage when you're OC'ing?
Doesn't sound like you are.
1. That motheboard is terrible for OC'ing, the RAM is tied to the FSB, so your RAM overclock will conk out long before the CPU does.

2. You're using assymetrical RAM. Definitely doesn't help OC'ing.

3. That motherboard is terrible for OC'ing.

4. Really terrible.

I believe the voltage is set on AUTO, so it should automatically increase.

Okay so what should i set the ram to? And is there anyway i can get 3.6ghz(About 300mhz bus) with keeping ram at 800mhz? Unfortunately i don't have a lot of cash currently and i can't purchase new motherboard, any tips on how i can push the max out of my current MB?

Do NOT leave it on Auto.
I left it on Auto and checked CPUz and found my board was giving me 1.6V's when it was being loaded. Do it yourself.

4. Really terrible.

It has a limit of 411FSB, which is fine for this CPU..

The board is 4 Phase, so be carefull and Use the options 667/800/1066mhz
With a FSB of 411 my RAM is as follows using these settings..
With '667', I get 822mhz and 6-5-5-15 2T and and a 1:1 FSB to RAM Ratio.. With '800' I get 988mhz and 6-6-6-18 2T Timings and a 5:6 FSB to RAM Ratio...
You can also change the RAM Voltage in .0125v Increases..

The Vcore options are +50mv from base VID to, +100mv and +150mv..

DO NOT USE AUTO SETTINGS!!

Speedstep can't be disabled on this board, I have tried..

Okay i set the bus speed to 241, with manual. Then i changed dram frequency to 667 and i put like 1.8675 or 1.9V for memory. I got VC 1.35-1.36 under load, 3ghz, dram frequency 401.7mhz. Should i change memory timings too? And what are the 1.5 and 1.25v selections about? Oh and if i raise more FSB will the memory go above 401mhz?

For memory voltage, set it to whatever your memory says. If it doesn't say on the box/sticks. Don't worry about it right now and leave it to Auto.

Okay, but there's one thing i don't understand. If the max FSB my motherboard can support is 1600mhz and max memory it can support is 1066mhz, shouldn't the memory run at 1600mhz too? Does it have anything to do with FSB:DRAM frequency and if so, how can i change mine from 3:5 to 1:1 and would it be beneficial?

I have no experience with ASUS mobo's so I couldn't tell you the right option for setting the RAM 1:1 on it.
