Why don't companies still make PS2 games? - Page 2

PS2 had some of the highest moments in gaming history imho.
This doesn't mean however that we should still support the console. It's more than a decade old and everything on it looks crap when compared to today's standards, I really don't see the reason to continue developing games on it.

Actually, I'm of the opinion that we should take those PS2 gems and bring them to modern systems with high-definition graphics, better framerates, etc. You don't have an Idea of how much I would pay to have games like MGS3 and Shadow of the Colossus with Crysis-like graphics. And I don't say that just for saying something, I would REALLY finance the development if I had the money to invest

Your prayers have been answered! Shadow and MGS3 are actually coming to ps3 in hi def, no crysis level graphics sadly.

Is you want hi def, you play with pcsx2, game can look surprisingly good...

If they still make good game on PS2, I would still buy them, but really, the PS2 as already shown is full power (even shadow don't run at full speed).

I went to GameStop the other day and it seems the only games coming out for PS2 are sports games like Madden, etc.

I was pissed when my brother got a PS3 (the "slimmer" model, not the original) and I found out you couldn't play PS2 games on it >

I should just find a BIOS for the PS2 emu (mine broke a long time ago) but ive been to lazy whenever I think about doing it. It had some great games.

I just put my PS2 back in the box a couple of days ago. I haven't played it once since I got my PC and PS3 Slim. With PCSX2 I can pop in my discs and play with better graphics. It was sitting there for six months and just realized it was collecting dust. I only used it for a little over a year. I may sell it.

I still have a buttload of used PS2 game which I bought from GameStop that I have not played yet. Will do this year.

You didn't miss anything. Even with the filters on the old PS3 for playing PS2 games, PCSX2's filters and settings are MUCH better.
