Another stupid "Help me OC thread"!

You may be hitting an FSB wall but those usually happen a little lower.

What ram do you have exactly? From what I can tell it is your ram that is holding you back. Get some decent DDR2 1066 ram and you shouldn't have any issues going higher.

Also it is not stupid to ask for help. It took me forever to reallize my ram was holding be back as well. My old crap hated going even over 870MHz... But since you have a Q9300, your multi is rather low so that means you gotta push your FSB speed higher.

This also means a few other things come into play:

RAM - The higher the FSB speed goes, the higher your ram will to. For best stability it is recommended to run in a 1:1 ratio.

CPU Term MCH (NB) and CPU PLL voltages come into play once you start pushing past about 425MHz, but that varies as well.

What are your settings right now? More information would be nice.

If those are Kingston Value sticks, its the RAM. If its HyperX, its definitely NOT the RAM, as those should hit 550Mhz stable at 5-5-5-15 timings all day.

Also, that board is notorious for not reaching 500 FSB with a quad. Honestly, there's only a few boards I know of that'll push a quad that high on the FSB...and that's not one of them.

ok well change your divider to 1:1(if you havent already cant see it in your screen shot) cause your memory is probably causing the trouble and some more info on what happens when you get past 3.45ghz please.does it load into windows or does it blue screen in windows or does it not post?and maybe try bumping voltages a bit.

See if you can lower your RAM speed down BELOW 460Mhz (460Mhz is your FSB speed, so 1:1 puts your memory at 460Mhz or DDR2-920). If you can get your RAM lower, you can try to test it out with a higher FSB.

You can also try loosening your RAM timings up (don't know what they're at now, but loosen them up). That would also help if its a RAM problem.

Otherwise, no I wouldn't suggest buying more RAM. DDR2 is outdated (no offense meant), and its FAR too expensive for what you get anymore. I'd hold onto the money and build a newer system with it. But there's absolutely nothing "wrong" with your system as is either.
