I would buy from ZZF. They are just like newegg.com, however Newegg is jacking up the prices of Core 2 Duo products. ZZF would be better then newegg.com if their website was easier to browse.

I don't think alienware can give me anything I can't get myself. They don't even offer phase. I'll go with the raid 0+1 then I guess. I'm going with the 7950GX2 because it looks like the best deal. Crossfire will cost $1000, while the 7950 is only $600. Of course crossfire is faster, but not that much faster. And yeah I keep checking ZZF and other sites but still nothing in stock.

I doubt you are going to get 5GHz even with that awesome build. Only a few of the ES stepping X6800's got to 5GHz and that was with LN2 cooling (-192C!!). The retail steppings dont seem to perform anything like the ES steppings.....so with your prommy I would guess 4.5GHz stable would be a more realistic target.

One thing you could do to increase your overclock would be to get a chilly1 evap head for the prommy. This would lower your load temps a lot and help increase the OC

Physics Card?

The way I figure is, you should cool your chipsets with the next level down of cooling. If you use air cooling for the CPU, passive cooling will be fine for the chipset. If you use watercooling for the processor, air cooling for the chipsets. If you use phase change for the processor, watercooling for the chipsets and videocard.

I would get the PC Power and Cooling 1KW PSU. It is the best in the world.

no its not. the tagan 1100 watt is the best. id hold off on the phase changer and just water cool and see where that gets you. you could top out before your temps are outrageous and be out the cost of the phase. you should get a physics card with the budget you have but ati v. nvidia will always come down to a personal prefrence in the end.

Yeah I'm not really expecting to get 5ghz myself after seeing how much it took to get 5ghz on th ES steppings, I'm just aiming for close to 5ghz.

Don't get the 7950.. I agree. Do get a X1900XT(X) and crossfire them if needed. Much better.

Also, if you want superior hard drive performance, get 4 (yes FOUR) 74GB Raptors (with 16MB cache each) and slap that set in a RAID0 array. You'll blow anything away!!!

The Perpendicular recording drives in RAID0 beat a single Raptor... but single against single or RAID against RAID, the Raptor pwns BIG time.

And the comment about SATA DVD? Nay.. there aren't reliable drives on the market yet. Just stick with IDE for those for now.
