Don't count on the 6 month period as a sure fact.. MS is already creating suspicion about the January launch date...

Well the problem is that running games at 2048x1536 and 2560x1600 takes a LOAD of power, so a single x1900xtx is barely enough. I run BF2 right now with a single x1900xtx at 2048x1536 (won't go higher) and my FPS is at around 45-50, not a 60 which I would aim for, plus BF2 is not even a demanding game as stuff like FEAR. I was hoping a 7950 and conroe would bring me closer to 55-60 FPS. If you don't think so, can someone please link a cheap x1900xt+x1900 CF card? All I see is 550 for xt and 550 for CF, 1100 total is too much for vid cards.

BTW I should clear it up that I am giving away my current x1900xtx to my brother, who has a really crappy comp. So I need brand new cards, can't use my old one.

You already HAVE a X1900XTX.. Just get a X1900 Crossfire Edition card, and you're set!

Here is a $469.99 Crossfire Edition card (minus $20 MIB):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161170
X1900XT for $355.99:

(different brands, because the HIS X1900XT is out of stock at the moment - does not matter though)

You can run it at 2560x1600. Google it. I forgot how.

Ok maybe I can get my brother a 7900GT or something and keep the x1900xtx for myself. Where can I buy a cheap x1900 CF card?

BTW how's my mobo and RAM? Corsair not that good?
And thanks, selectodude I'll look into the forced widescreen thing.

Do I need any cooling support for the two x1900 cards? Is the big HSF attached in the retail version removable?

Yes, you can remove the heatsink. There is that cross shaped bracket on the back held by four screws, and there are four (or five.. I forgot) other screws you need to find and unscrew.

I replaced my stock coolers with Zalman VF900's. They keep them quite cool (about 70C - 75C full load, which is cool for X1900's)

Because 7950GX2 is just a half ass job to beat ATI. It is not stable, it runs hot, and the drivers really suck. A X1900XTX has better image quality and more high graphics features.

Can anyone comment on the Corsair 1066 RAM and the P5W DH deluxe? From what I have seen and heard, the P5W looks like the best overclocker for conroe right now. Oh yeah and can anyone recommend a full tower case with good airflow (one that is better than the TT tai-chi).

What kind of cooling should I get for the video cards? I heard water cooling can keep the x1900 below 60, which sounds better than the zalman fans. Is this true? If not, should I just get 2 zalman V900 fans and slap them on the two x1900 cards? Or if water cooling is better, what's a good water block for x1900 cards?
