Anyway, I've never overclocked before (except my old GPU with RivaTuner, but that's fairly simple), and I noticed that my ASUS P8P67 PRO motherboard has automatic overclocking capabilities, so I enabled them in the EFI. My CPU multiplier was set to 42 and my clock speed accordingly went up to 4.3GHz.

My first question, is how solid are the automatic overclocking capabilities of the P8P67 PRO? I'd just like to make sure that they're OK and won't damage my computer. I was so concerned about not wrecking my computer through overclocking that I almost got the locked 2500 instead of the 2500K. Secondly, as mentioned above, I really hardly know anything about overclocking, and I don't actually particularly even want to know (due to the potential consequences if I bork it either simply by accident or by trying to go too far), but I was just wondering if anyone could give me a list of steps to go through to get my CPU safely and stably clocked at 4.5GHz? (which I would then leave it at and probably never touch again) It's only about an increase of two multipliers over what the motherboard has already automatically set, so I can't imagine it would be too difficult.

Thanks in advance guys.
The asus p8p67 pro is a great overclocking board, I have the same and can push 5ghz no problems. I do not recommend using software to overclock your 2500k, Mainly as it's just so easy and safer to do it manually through the bios, It really is a matter of a few clicks. Read the links below good luck.
