Corsair Ram showing diffrent Part number and timing, Help!

Thread Starter
Hey guys

I'm looking for a little help here
I bought a pair of Corsair Dominator 1600mhz (2x2g) 9.9.9.24.
Now the ram runs fine but i have a problem with CPU-Z and AMD overdrive, etc showing the wrong timings, part number and speed.
The ram part number I have is TW3X4G1600C9D, and is supsoe to run at PC3-12800 (1600MHz) at 9.9.9.24 1.65V (max 1.8V)
But CPU-z says in SPD i have CM3X2G1600C9DHX PC3-8500F (533mhz) [or 1066mhz] at 7.7.7.20.27 1.50V rom in the ram.
In the memory its actually showing 800mhz (1600mhz) 9.9.9.24 but that's because i manually set the timings and such in the bios.
Anyway i want help in knowing why its saying the rom for the ram is different for what it actually is. If you get what I mean.

Also after that if or if there isn't a fix, or there's nothing wrong. I'm thinking of OC / changing the timings on my ram, What do you guys recommend?
I was just gunna go for 8.8.8.20 @ 1333mhz

Cheers.

It shows 533 because its DDR3 (i.e. 533 x 3 = ~1600mhz) - also CS 7 @ 1.5v is much better ram

Ahh right I thought it still times by 2.
Thanks for the response

Still looking for an answer of it showing a different part number.

Wrong. DDR3 is also multiplied by 2. All DDR speed (DDR1/2/3) is multiplied by two (hence the Double Data Rate name)

About the other timings, i got no idea. They're way better tho comapred to the "stock" ones (the lower the timings the better performance), the real question would be if they're stable. They can be stable if you run the memory at a lower speed tho, like running it at 1066 MHz

I'd call Corsair and ask them directly, they might have misbranded a set. You can also say where do you see the RAM info on CPU-Z, is it on the Memory or SPD tab? If it is the SPD tab then it's what the RAM can handle, and i'd compare those values to the specs, if it's the Memory tab, it's what it is set up on the mobo

It might also be your mobo not recognizing memory as it should, so you should manually adjust the timings (my HTPC mobo recognizes my 1333 MHz @ 9-9-9-24 XMS3 RAM as 1066 @ 7-7-7-20)

Ahh so I was still thinking right that DDR3 is still multiplied by 2 XD.

Oh well ill contact Corsair customer support, iv had the ram about 2 years now Tho not really payed any attention to it, Tho if it is wrong, I shouldn't have no problem sending it back to be replaced.

Thanks for response / Advice

dhx is the heatspreader type, does it have heatsinks on the ram?
did you try the lower timings manually?

Yeah it has a heatsink on the RAM and I have also set the timings manually, but it still says weird stuff in CPU-z and the bios

Well after contacting Corsair I got an answer, They say that it looks like they have "mis programmed the correct part # and SPD". And say if its stable, just setting the right timings in BIOS should be fine. but if I want, they will replace the ram.

So I'm gunna get the ram replaced. I like to have things working correct.

Thanks for the advice guys
