Chilly 6950's?

Hey everyone. I've seen on a lot of benchmarks that the 6950's, especially in crossfire, run hot. I'm hoping they were just using reference cards.

Which non-reference cards run cool, and how cool? I wanted to pick one up in a couple weeks and another before BF3. I was looking at the Twin Frozr II/III's on Newegg, always heard good things about those coolers.

They run hot on the default fan curve, with reference design and 70% fan speed, i dont get past 60ºC on my CF setup.

idles at 35 and loads around 70-73 on 940/1450 @ 1.23v @55-60% fan speed on ref cooler. Its actually very quiet at this speed, it only gets annoyingly loud above this speed imo.

mine idles around 55C and runs at about 65C during long sessions of BC2. Should also note that my apartment is usually around 25.5C. I set CCC to run the fan at 55% during gameplay.

Well I've got a reference 460 that I have set to max out at 70% fan speed. Getting temps in the 70's under load. I assume a TFIII at 70% would be quieter (or at the most, equal).

Are there any models that run cooler than the TFIII? I'm hoping to keep Crossfire temps in the 70's or lower with the same 70% fan speed limit.

My 6950 DirectCU is currently idling at 32 degrees with the fan running at 1000RPM
