Things are coming along nicely, Im learning a bunch of things about watercooling thats for sure! Ill give a little update on how things are going with the setup:
I took the stock cooler off the 6950 and cleaned all the paste off. Really glad this doesnt void the xfx warranty!
Got the CPU block put together and also managed to figure out how to mount the GPU block after some mishaps
While I had the case apart, I thought I would snap a pic to further show why the shroud had to be all cut up like it did. You can see how the cuts line up with the holes in the case where the top clips on. I also forgot to mention, there are no screws or glue holding the shroud in place, once the top slides on, it doesnt move around at all!:
I did end up having to change some things about the setup however; some of the 45 degree angle fittings I used to not match up how I thought they would, and I have to swap them out for 90 degree ones, and I also need to get another 30 degree adapter, so that one of the quick disconnects lines up better with the fitting off the GPU block. Not only does this mean I have 30 dollars of 45 degree angle fittings that I cannot use , it means I have to put in another order and wait another 3 or 4 days to get those in before I can put this thing completely together...Another thing I decided to change was the coolant. After looking at this thread
I decided against using the Feser One UV red coolant that I ordered, because I dont want to have to worry about taking apart my loop every few months before the dye seperates, I dont want it to stain my rez or blocks, and I dont want to have to buy a 20 dollar bottle (+ ship) every time I want to drain my loop. I really wanted to have that stuff glowing in the resevoir, but I guess I will have to settle for some distilled water, pt nuke, and red LEDs in the rezz. Hopefully it will still look sweet! Since I didnt open the Feser, I am hoping I can ship it back and get at least some of my money back. Thanks for following, hopefully it will all be put together by the end of the week!
