what do you use photoshop, paint.net or gimp... or something else?
I use Photoshop CS5 Extended. I also am doing a little 3D work in Maya, but am nowhere near as good in that as I am in Photoshop.
The other 3D wallpapers were designed in Cinema 4D, however, I have been consulting with another OCN member here about Maya, because he is a beast at it. I figure that if I learn Maya, I will be able to ask him questions about it rather than go on a 3D Maya forum or something like that.
I am also working on Adobe After Effects CS5.5. You can do some pretty cool stuff with that. Look up "After Effects Energy Ball" on Youtube.
Finally, I am not happy to admit this, but I use paint for when I make avatars for people, and when I download their avatar for editing, it is a gif. Photoshop has a hard time with gifs, so I open them in Paint and save them as a .png. I do all my wallpapers as PNG's and only use .tifs for large, high res, photos.
For example, all of my work on the OCN/Corsair/Microcenter "August Ice" was done in .tif format. The major one being a 6x2 foot banner that will be printed for the actual competition in Michigan. It was something like 5700x1900 pixels.
