[GTX 590] Flashing & Overclocking Thread - Page 23

Ok sorry for the delay, below is the links to the 4 x Bios files from 1 x European EVGA GTX 590 HydroCopper and 1 x US Version EVGA Classfied w/ EK FC590 Waterblock.

Last note I expressed concern about flashing these as guide recommended not flashing cards from different regions due to warranty. If you could take a look and advise that would be fantastic. (btw I am on 280.63 drivers)

Welcome to OCN, and please feel free to go UserCP and edit system, fill out your specs.

Also, as mentioned before, what nVidia drivers are you using? Best to stick with 280.19 till I make a BIOS that unlocks all the voltage for 280.26 and higher.

Second thing is, every 590 has 2x BIOSes, I need all 4x, BIOSes. You may try and flash a Gainward BIOS and it may not even recognize the Gigabyte, and vice versa. The reason they all "look" the same as only ASUS so far have changed the number scheme. GPU-z reports them as "nVidia" vendor as well, I am assuming because GPU-z isn't up to date with all 590s and has a generic term for them. There is very little information going to those guys regarding anything to do with 590s so they don't really update it. Nobody is too concerned with a small group of enthusiasts who do have this card, even fewer who overclock, even fewer of those know how to submit a BIOS to TPU.
Hey Mr Cain, thanks for the responce.

when i did the bios update it did see both cards, and updated both BIOS.

with Voltage set stock from the BIOS update ive clocked a card a tad, and its done a HUGE preformace increase, so much so im VERY happy now, at first was hugelly disappointed with the performance on the cards, but now im very happy, and for some reason my temps have dropped by 20deg *** im wandering why . i could probably clock it a bit more but why, im happy with it as is.

im also guessing that if i want to flash the BIOS of the gainward i would have to pull out the gigabyte and only have that card in the machine when i do the flash (when you get to creating it)

Actually leave the card in. It wont easy flash a non-matching BIOS, you have to force with console commands. If it does actually Flash then its very simple to explain they are both using Nvidia generic BIOSes meaning they are compatible. As far as we know that all 590s are the same but consist in 3 isolated BIOS groups.

ASUS, EVGA, and everyone else.

I have heard rumors of a revision 2/B/1.01 but have yet to see one. Furthermore its a tiny revision, relating to just parts, not functionality.

I was truly disappointed with stock performance both raw and drivers. Thus I tinkered and benched. I felt I had gained a bit of experience and wanted to share with everyone.

Over the next two weeks, expect to see me major over hauling the thread with data. I will isolate even more fact from junk. More personal experience, update some bioses to have max voltage unlocked for 280.26 and beyond. I will include a generic performance guide and oc tips/guidelines and some more graphs. First up will be correcting my English. Bare with me, it will be small incremental updates.

Apologies for the double post - I have rolled back to the 275.33 drivers in an attempt to increase my previously poor GPU usage on 280.19 which has obviously undone my overclock/overvolt. I was hoping to get around this by flashing my card (EVGA Classified [Air Cooled], bought from the US) with the following BIOSes;

EVGA - Stock Clock - 0.963v Min-1.063v Max - 100% Fan
EVGA (Special) Stock Clock - 0.963v Min-1.063v Max - 100% Fan
EVGA (ReignsOfPower Specials) Stock Clock - 0.963v Min-1.063v Max - 100% Fan

I used the Windows 7 nvflash method. Unfortunately none of the above have worked for me - nvflash says something about a mismatch and fires a memory address at me before closing down. My BIOSes remain original.

It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice to have my 730MHz back

Flashing BIOS issue might be SMO specific but should not affect GPU usage normally ever.

Just post the BIOSes doing yours and Engaged tonight.
