Also let me know which of the latest drivers to use once you give this a heads up

Thanks
You will instantly void the warranty by flashing a BIOS from another region and/or manufacturer (to be fair, you will void the warranty flashing any BIOS at all, but we're counting on the vendor/manufacturers not looking into our BIOSes in-depth should the cards fail).

Hi Smo
I hear ya, I picked that up on the original threads but I guess RC was going to take a look at the BIOSes to see if its a bad idear or not, but from your reply I'm thinking this might be a showstopper ;-(

At the end of the day fella, it all comes down to luck (be it good or bad). Personally I am prepared to flash a custom version of my original BIOS, because I don't believe that the vendor would bother to look that deeply into a failed card. However, I wouldn't risk flashing a BIOS from another vendor or region, just in case.

RagingCain is far more knowledgable than myself - so your best bet is to fire him a PM and I'm sure he will do his best to help you.

EVGA GTX 590 Classifieds and EVGA GTX 590 HC Classifieds don't have regions all of them have American S/N.
03G-P3-1598-A2
03G-P3-1599-AR
03G-P3-1598-AR

They were also sold in Europe but they all have American S/N.

There is only one BIOS for 590 on EVGA site that You can download.
I also wrote to EVGA and thay told me that even if I bought card in Europe I can download BIOS http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1034790

Yeah all the EVGA's should be good. The ASUS have one that is different (but I can't compare to the American patch one as I didn't have a sample.

Checksum though, the stock BIOSes were the same.

SO although I was correct in being cautious, there is no need to panic. There isn't any issue.

So its no big deal to flash them, I will leave the info there.

Hi, I was looking to do a little overclocking. Using msi afterburner it is only listing one core clock for my 590. Is this normal or should there be two? Am I missing something?
Also could you please give me a bit of advice for a low to moderate overclock bearing in mind I won't be changing the voltage as I believe it is locked.
I am using 285.27 drivers and have scored P9698 - i7 2600k @ 4.2, 8gb @1600, gtx 590 @ stock in 3d mark 2011.
I was looking to break the 10,000. So if my speeds are as follows how high should I increase them? Should I increase them all or just the core speed?

Core: 607mhz
Shader Clock: 1215mhz
Memory Clock: 1707mhz

Thanks in advance, Last time I overclocked a grfx card it was an ati 9800pro back in the day.

Breaking 10K is easy peasy. At 4.2 you're actually bottlenecking the GPU a little bit. Bump the CPU up to 4.5 and run 630 core 1728 memory (EVGA stock clocks) and you should be at about P10100 give or take a few points. Having one core slider is 100% normal and expected. Afterburner's default settings link the GPU clocks to one slider. If you aren't going to voltage tweak then there's no point in unlinking them.

Like this.

Keep in mind Gigabyte's bios for my board are laughably bad as well. You could gain points just by not having the same mobo.

ETA: Just saw your motherboard. I wish you luck, I really do. Different bios revisions change my score by as much as 400 points. Of course the bios with the better gfx score gives me a physics subscore of terribad and my CPU runs 10C hotter. If your score is too low, try an older bios.

Thanks for the advice but what are you implying about my motherboard? I don't quite get what you mean.
I don't think my score atm isn't bad, so i'd see no reason to change the bios.

Your motherboard is top-notch. I just don't trust GB to write good bios. Note I have the exact same mobo just with an HDMI port.

To give you an example of the terribadness. Those same settings on F2 bios get me 10.3K, F3 gives 10.1K, F4 gives 9.7K. Same settings, temps, voltages, etc.
