[GTX 590] Flashing & Overclocking Thread - Page 33

in the middle of backplate (where EK perforation is) i could make a little window sized to chamber - VRMs are there, so this chamber can cool them. as for fixing on place - right on backplate.
weird system, lol

I also have a EVGA GTX 590. Upon saving the bios I had the ones with the last two digits being 90 and 91. I tried the first couple of bioses in your link but they did not work. The only bioses that nvflash would use were Reigns. These bioses are the 92 and 93 digits tho. The flash was successful and now im at .975 max VDC and overclocks are 700/900/1400. I am on air and my temp difference wasnt much different then before with the fans now maxxed out at 100%

If You want to flash BIOS with other Sub System ID (90,91,92,93) you have to use "overridesub" and "index" option in nvflash.

I already did flash it I am just wondering why my original bioses ended in 90 and 91 and the only bioses that would flash to it ended in 92 and 93. I am just wondering if that is normal or not. Card is running fine. I have the clocks set as follows: Core 700 Shader 1400 VRAM 1900.

Hi guys,

I'm having some problems with modified BIOS'es. If i flash my Gigabyte GTX590 with BIOS'es that you posted here, i always get artifacts after flashing... i tried all of them. Same thing on every attempt. Is there any chance that someone here modifies my original BIOS'es?

Thank you in advance and best regards,

Miha

Does any one know what temps I should see on a absolutely stock EVGA GTX 590 Classified 3gb?

At idle I see 38c on GPU 1 and 58c on GPU 2.

Running 3dMark11 and Heaven I see upwards of 88c on GPU1 and 83c on GPU2.

Seems a bit high to me with my fan'd like crazy HAF-X (with VGA fan and H100 set up)

What is the common OC on air without touching voltages or any of that? The big downfall to EVGA Precision is that you have to set the fans to a default speed, and running at 75% 24/7 is awful.

On another note - I OC'd to 690mhz through Precision (equivalent bumps on the rest as well) and it crashed 3dmark11. 675mhz BSOD'd (000007, forgot the first numbers) and 660mhz seemed to run fine and didn't crash at all. Is that what I am limited to on OC??

Thanks for any help and answers.

Your core 2 idle seems insanely high, but loads are normal.

ETA: How is your case front fan set up? These cards exhaust out both sides; and your front fan might be fighting against the 590 fan at idle speeds, causing heat to be held in the heatsink.

Use MSI Afterburner to overclock. It lets you make a custom fan profile and set clocks.

I get 685 stable on stock voltage, memory untouched. Though I'd say a realistic goal is more around 670-675 core.

I monitored my temps yesterday while playing bf3. Both gpu's were running 90%-100% and the temps were 65-75.

I thought the 2nd GPU was ridiculously high as well, but others told me theirs do the same (but not quite as big of difference), EVGA told me the temp difference at idle was not unheard of.... and at load, it seems quite normal? I will have to test it out tomorrow to see the temps with BF3 beta to get a better idea with what the other reply stated about his temps.

Regarding the fans, I have the HAF X case, which the front fan (a big one) blows into the case, and then it as another VGA fan that sits literally right next to card continuing the inward flow (push/pull I guess it would be called but with a bit of a gap inbetween.)

I suppose I can swap the direction of both fans, but I wonder if I would need to swap the back exhaust fan, or the side window fan to an intake as well.

I'll have to get this MSI stuff running as well.

I will reply back in a few days with what I figure out! Thanks for the help!

The side fan should be okay as long as the flow forms a "T" with the card flow (the short bits are the cards exhaust and the long bit is the VGA fan). Feeding the card with more cold air never hurts. The front one might make a bit of a difference. For me, at idle my cores are the exact same temp and at full load they have a 4C difference, which makes sense considering that the GPU2 heatsink doesn't contact the die fully. My WC block has the same difference, but that's just because the water has picked up heat by the time it hits the 2nd die.

You can see here how the 2nd vapor chamber doesn't make full contact.

That little white plug was a PITA.
