Building "Monolith" w/pics - Page 9

No offense to your choice, but a 6950? Srsly? All Radeon cards are so basic and limited, sucky video rendering, no PhysX support, just overall bad. Sure they are cheap, but performance over price.

Also, whats with the tiny case? When I have a computer, I want it to roar like a jet engine. (But sadly the Awesomer 3 is the quietest computer in the house ) its so quiet I once thought it was broken because it made no sound at boot up. Built with my own two hands.

Scaling there buddy. And the 6990 smokes the 590, especially with ref design. PhysX isn't that important either. Note my card, I'm on green team, but the reds aren't terrible either also, performance over price? Is that an AMD i see in your rig? Some people just want a small case, too.

Also, I love me a loud computer too

I can only base the purchase on the reviews I read and the budget I worked with. From most of the apples to apples comparisons, that MSI Twin Frozr 1gb was the better buy over the 560Ti. I have had NVidia products in the past, but they are almost always the pricier option but without a clear tech advantage.

I like the form factor of the mid tower case, fits well on the desk or under it, CM has a great variety to choose from, and the price is pretty sweet too.

I respect your thoughts on both issues too, thats why I posted what I did, nice to read opposing thoughts and views. Repped you for the effort !!

Thanks for the props !! Patrick is a good kid, really wanted to build a rig from scratch, and when he saw mine, he basically wanted to use it as a template for his. Funny thing, his Z68 board boots twice as fast as mine, so I start digging to find out why, turns out his Gigabyte board has Bios F3, mine has Bios F2. I was gonna flash mine, but chickened out with all the doom and gloom warnings on gigabytes website.

Really? That's good info to have as I was planning on the exact same mobo. Do you know if it's possible to get the F2 with a newly purchased board, or all they all being sold with F3 now? I shall have to research!

Stasis,

I would hope anything bought now would be F3, which is the faster booter. I know though that I bought from NewEgg, and he bought from Micro Center. MC combo'd the I5 2500K for $180 to that mobo for $110, what a great price if you can find a MC near you !!!
