well I do shy away unless therew is a return policy... Newegg had : a xfx 6790 for 91 bucks open box,a xfx radeon hd 5850 for 99 bucks refurbished, and a dang Sapphuire vapor-x 6870 for 100.99 refurbished---all were free shipping. Of course I didnt get my cash deposited ono my prepaid card until 7 and they were all sold out. With newegg,geeks.com,and ncix even if they're refurb or open box there's a great return/exchange policy so it's just like getting new, really.... I think it was a sign because the deal for the powercolor new 6850's just started at 11:00 P.M. eastern time so...lol I got a good deal after all.!! U ever look at the refurbished cards that geeks.com has? That dang 5870 is an older generation but WOW! 1408 stream processors on a 256 bit memory bus! for 119.00???!!! They've got some great deals right now too.... If u like Radeon cards though the best deal at geeks is a 6970 FOR 199.00!!!!!

ALSO CHECK THIS ONE OUT FROM nVIDIA!!

Oh god that reference 6970 on geeks looks SO TEMPTING! I want to actually get CFX 6970's or 6950's. For some reason I find the reference design to be very sleek and sexy and the plain color scheme is great. I might have to buy that card tongue.gif

I've hesitated so far because I see on google searches that many complain about broken items and bad customer service on geeks.com and their prices do seem suspicious.

Well, My wife and I have spent over 1000.00 there since she found it last september si I have only good things to say! I bought a samba cpu for 35 bucks minus the hard drive, and a socket 775 board and cpu for 24 bucks that run great to this day on my moms htpc. Also, all of our wireless pc game controllers (the ones that look like ps3 controllers) still run perfectly as does my sons modern warfare gaming keyboard that we got for them at a 6 dollar price point... Shoot we spent more than that cuz I fergot about the Apple Imac of the ol ladys was a sweet deal at 300 bucks but we did have to add 2 gigs of ram. It's totally your choice, of course, but I have a 100 percent approval rating for the geeks thankfully. I think I may buy one of the 6970's too to replace the gtx 460 that's in my oldest sons' gaming rig because I know I can get 80 to 100 for it to get some of the money back, lol kids r xpensive! I got the evga gtx 460 from them for 109.95 on one of our first orders last september and it was a refurb too...wait sorry its a msi sorry one of them cyclone cards. Best of luck to ya but I have also had a 100 percent approval rating for newegg too, I'm sure ytou know about them. They put their "open box" and "refurbished" items on their site between 8 and 9 A.M. every weekday morning Pacific time.(My cousin and her hubby are silicon valley geekers...lol) Good luck on ur card search lol. I've still gotta find sum 1 to buy my not needed evga superclocked gtx 260 core 216 so I can get 2 more 18 inch monitors to set up my 2 youngest boys' eyefinity setup. My buddy has about 20 of them he sells for 30 bucks each. That EVGA has been a beast for years as was my MSI 8800 ultra----them both cost a pretty penny when they were new. Well, I'll get off my blah blah blabbing kick ... Talk to ya later.Stevee

Wow it appears geeks may indeed be legit. Perhaps all the negative stuff I found is just negative stuff. There's probably weird negative experiences from newegg which i buy almost everything on (and eBay).

I think I'll look around on geeks, I was going to get a 1080p monitor, sabertooth 990fx and a psu on newegg but I'll check geeks.

Geeks:
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=A221HQV-BD-FB-R&cat=MON
Didn't find a good psu on geeks.
Didn't find a sabertooth but possibly get http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=M5A99X-EVO-PB-R&cat=MBB

Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182133
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131736&Tpk=sabertooth%20990fx

So what I may be able to do is instead of getting the newegg monitor, get the geeks monitor and save $40 and maybe by the time I buy (4 days from now) they will have another sabertooth.

nope, they don't usually carry my brand either. They have contracts with several of the big names, which is why they have certain brancs of mobos, vid cards, etc. They get all of the refurbs that the manufacturer repairs (certain ones anyway). My old lady likes them because we got her Samsung galaxy II through them and also get our blank media from em. She still blabs on and on about getting 60 blank dvd's with the thick (not jewel) cases for 8.88 ... lol. I think that if there were records for scouring the internet for bargains, she'd at least be on the podium. Good luck and if ya want, let me know what ya end up with?! BTW after our conversation last evening, I went ahead and ordered 1 of these cards for an upcoming htpc value build as I'm trying to break my record for the least expensive HTPC with all quality parts/brands. So far my list will end up costing 241.00 but i'm waiting on each part to get it on refurb or open box to try an get it under 200 lol.For the price, getting 400 stream processors w/low profile is a good value and most of them on newegg don't have the fan with a shroud/cover to help funnel the air in a smaller htpc case.

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD5570-PCIE-1024-3-PB&cat=VCD

I know it's an older "5000" nseries but it will perform just great in an HTPC environment and/or multi monitor environment. I had one of these same valuegeekers in my very first pc build and played dirt 2 on it although had to adjust a few settings. Have a good one!

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to letcha know that I checked out ur selected items and love newegg as well cuz about 1/2 to 2/3 of my stuff comes from there depending on value and brand. Them Acer monitors are nice, I've got a 21.5 but don't klnow if it's the same one but mine ain't backlit or nuthin. I've not bought a Rosewill power supply before but many of their other products without a fail. I love the look and reviews I've read on the sabertooth boards but am not personally an Asus fan but u know that you can get same model with warranty on geeks for -- nevermind it's gone. shoot! They had a crosshair IV for 94 bucks and a 990fx sabertooth for 89 I believe. They didnt last long. Wow, I missed that blu-ray monitor and was just about to suggest that newegg would be a better value if it was free shipping but being a blu-ray it should also be enablable for hybrid 3-d as well with some fine tuning. I may have to grab myself one for the girls to watch their disney crap on it! TTYL gotta go to work again lol never ends
