My first computer build log(i7 2600K). Just got the parts and got questions! :D - Page 3

Usually the beeping speaker comes with the case;-)
To turn it off, you have to have the case plugs attached to your motherboard, so you turn it on and off and reset via the case buttons still. Otherwise you have to place jumpers and short circuit and things that are too hard haha.

Good work getting it running.

The speaker usually comes with the case. I find them unnecessary and don't use them these days. To each their own.

I believe you don't need to plug it in as it is designed for either 4 pin or 3 pin connectors. Your mobo has a 4 pin connector so you don't need to use the 3 pin.

Yep that worked

Finally on the new computer, had to modify the side mount fan because it hit the radiator. Im am super impressed with the stock speeds, cant wait to start fidling around with overclocking but im happy for now

Pic, ill get the total later.

Thank you I got some minor issues nothing big though

1. What are programs to test and stress my GPU, CPU, Memory if I want to overclock it? Is the "Fur Die" on the ATi tool still viable for stressing the GPU for artifacts??

2. The memory I bought was the Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000). But in Bios it says it is runing @ 1333Mhz and different timing that whats on newegg page. Why is it runing it @ 1333Mhz and can I force it to the 1866Mhz without anything bad happening, and adjusting it to the specified timings?

Linky to Memory:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233170

3. I think I got a little problem with the PSU. You tell me if im just being paranoid here. The power plug that plugs on the PSU on the back seems like it cause a false contact and shuts down with little to no movement. Just my wiggling the power cable on the back of the PSU the computer shuts down and restarts. Also when I wiggle it a bit I can hear sounds of when something makes a false contact.
Also when it was on and I needed to check some cable on the back slightly moved my pc so I can reach it and it turned off But its fine if I don't touch it at all, computer hasn't BSOD or shut down on me. Would it be the PSU or the power cable? Im gonna try a different cable after I come back from work.

1. Prime95 for 12-24 hours for stableness
Good stress tests can be found here.

2. You should be able to get it to 1600MHz but you can't put it in@1866 as sandybridge is currently only dual channel and it auto-downgrades tri-channel ones. Try putting it in XMP profile.

3. I can't recommend trying a different cable. I'm not sure about the cheaper models but I know that the more expensive models say not to use different cables as often other cables like monitor cables can't carry that much. I don't actually know, maybe an electrician can tell me that this is completely incorrect but I don't recommend you try a different cable.

4 Pin plug into a USB header, there's a fan controller in the 920.
The 3 pin plug into the CPU fan power.
