eSports Reviews - Razer Abyssus Review

Thread Starter

I'm posting this here because some of you may or may not be interested in this mouse and I don't want OCN users to see this review on youtube and be fooled by a completely incompetent mouse reviewer. This reviewer claims that the Abyssus has positive acceleration and is able to hit negative acceleration.... BUT:

THE ABYSSUS DOESN'T HAVE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE ACCELERATION!

I have personally used two different abyssus on a total of four different cloth mouse pads, three hard pads and a piece of friggin cardboard from a cereal box and I NEVER experienced positive or negative acceleration. And I specifically tested for these because I'm very sensitive to either of them. The only legit flaw which forced me to return them was that they jittered on my cloth pads which this reviewer didn't even touch on......

I thought I posted up a paint image from when I had my abyssus but I can't seem to find it. Here is an example from ESR with the abyssus at 450DPI.

When you move the mouse slowly at certain angles the cursor will start wandering from left to right. This only happens on cloth pads, not on hard surfaces. Some claim the newer versions of the mouse have an updated firmware that fixes this but some have also purchased the new LoL edition and it still jittered.

Jitter is when the mouse pointer spazes out

Looking at the lines drawn, it does look like jitter if the cursor keeps moving around when you're attempting to draw a straight line.

That's the one I uploaded of mine (flowrush on esr).

Also I would say it occurs on hard surfaces as well since the KAI.g3 is closer to a hard pad than it is soft. I tried it on the Megasoma as well with jitter still existing.

You can see my flickr album below to show what the jitter looks like at every dpi level, and significantly noticeable at 450 dpi. The slower you move the mouse, the more frenetic the lines become in their jitter. I'm not really sure of the root cause on the Philips Twin-Eye sensor, but I do know Razer has 'upgraded' firmwares to attempt to reduce it, but I don't think it is gone altogether. Some people claim to not have it, many others do.

In the pictures below with the horizontal lines, I am literally keeping the mouse in a straight horizontal plane and the cursor is moving around that dramatically by itself...

Thanks for warning, but Doesnt really matter - the jitter is still make you miss flickshot and ruin your gameplay just like accelration - so like that or that - the abyssus is still use faulty sensor.

He removed the video. I guess enough people called BS on it.

If he just cut out the acceleration part the rest of the review was informative with real annoyances that he mentioned such as the high lift off distance and the tilting.

i agree that it doesnt have positive or negative acceleration, but i dont seem to experience any jitter at all on my cloth pad.

Send this feedback to the author!

If he is serious about his reviews I'm sure he will take it as a constructive criticism.
