Started playing this yesterday at my cousin's suggestion... currently a level 26 Dual Wielding Duelist.

Gameplay is actually pretty fun, some areas are quite challenging, and the skill trees are ridiculous to say the least. Very much enjoying it! Now, just to figure out how this freaking economy works, I'll be golden tongue.gif

I'm level 40 now on my witch, sadly I don't even know what to do.

I really don't like summon specs but they are incredibly easy to do when soloing.. but i prefer playing with my friends but they arent always on.

Currently I'm specced for hex master, curse of the doom, unnatural calm, and doom cast.

Basically have a lot of +resist, +int+ and energy shield nodes. I'm unsure of wether to spec fire/lightning or cold.

I have 5% quality ice spear, spark and firestorm. I haven't added any + to cold, lighting or fire cause I can't deciede. Spark spam is really gg in dungeons, but ice spear is pretty damn good. Firestorm+fire trap is great for outdoors and fire trap is overall a great skill even though its green

Got my templar up to level 21 and next level I get minion instability. Maybe now they'll actually do some damage. I'm at the chamber of sins and cleared the first level OK but I'll probably farm or buy some lightning resist gear before pushing further. Damn lightning archers one shot my minions and I hear there's even worse lightning mobs below (not to mention the boss).

Can anyone explain the socket links to me? Im a lvl 29 and just now figured out that it even existed. Im not too sure how it works though. Am I supposed to be putting support gems in a socket linked with an action gem? Do they somehow multiply each others attributes? I guess I just don't understand the point of the link and what advantage it gives me by having certain ones linked together.

Zerg-duelist cares not for this flippant talk of resistances and such....

Really though, chamber of sins is pie. I ran through there at level 18 last night with 3 friends without a care in the world, with gear that I was using since level 10. Everyone was only doing about half as much damage as they should've been. I wasn't even paying attention to which potions I was using, I'd just moosh some keys whenever I saw my health start to drop.

It's even easier solo.

You can, if you have support gems, or you can use them for regular skill gems if you need those instead. A support gem will do stuff like extra accuracy, damage, or more missiles, and it buffs the linked skill gem. Can be kind of nice when you have two support slots for one gem.

Support gems buff your spell gems. Note that everything you link with a spell gem stacks.

For example, if you link added fire damage to fireball, and also link to to added elemental damage. then the added fire damage is applied them multiplied by the added elemental damage. This is also multiplied by any passive nodes you have for various things.

Some example numbers... A weapon does 50 physical damage. Added fire damage adds 20% of the physical damage as fire damage. And added elemental damage does 70% more elemental damage.

50/5 = 10*1.7=17.

So the weapon does 50 damage plus 17 fire damage giving you 67 damage total. This is a simple example for damage support gems. Things like iron ring also add to the physical damages, and this does not also include damage nodes/elemental damage nodes.

Other support gems, like chain and fork split projectiles when they hit an enemy. Which is awesome.

Also note, that support gems also multiply the effects of auras, so Anger, which adds fire damage, would be multiplied by the added elemental damage and any passive nodes.

^ What he said. I got a support gem that adds HP when hitting an enemy so when I linked it with an aoe attack, I do not have to use health pots now when doing a mob train, pretty sweet biggrin.gif

The power of strength. every 5 points increases melee dmg by 1%... I have a duelist build im leveling that gets 450+ strength just from passives. That is 90% extra physical dmg to attacks without even calculating the extra phys dmg nodes biggrin.gif or any gems and added bonus from any gear or weapon thumb.gif

This is mainly why linked sockets are awesome! Support gems basically allow you to customize your skills. They add something to the original spell/attack that wouldn't otherwise be there. So, you can use lightning strike on a melee character, then link it to a fork support gem, then link to chain support gem, and link to life for each enemy hit...

This takes the original skill which merely converts 50% of your physical dmg from the attack into lightning bolts that run along the ground in a forward direction and is guaranteed to hit enemies behind the initial enemy as long as your hit is successfully landed. Alone, this skill sucks... add fork though, and you are guaranteed a hit as long as your melee hit strikes an enemy, so fork allows the lightning to fork off the initially hit enemies into 2 directions... THEN add chain on top of that, and chain allows you to get 2 extra lightning strikes on top of that that are guaranteed to hit even more enemies, so basically with the life on hit support gem, you slam one enemy, and the wrath of Zeus consumes a mob while giving you a ton of life back!
