Killed merciless Vaal last night. So many close calls for the entire group. No one died though. Get to start my long journey grinding out Act 3 and looking for maps. I also finished my payment plan and have a gold Kiwi, super awesome. Fire witch is doing OK, still missing some gems that I need.

So am I missing something or is combat just not very fluid. Let me explain while auto attacking using my q w e doesn't always work sometimes feels like I have to stop auto attacking to use one of the instant like abilities and half the time it looks like they miss?

Can anyone clarify some of these issues! I am still only level three Templar only played a few mins but this combat system seems so whacky I really don't get it. Thanks!

You are not the only one. Another thing that many melee players dont realize though is that accuracy rating GREATLY influences the clunkiness feel. Specially starting a new toon, you are going to miss just as often as you hit. With melee I noticed monster evasion + low accuracy has me feeling like im lagging and combat is even more clunky. When you get higher level and have an awesome accuracy rating and some other skills thrown in the mix other than just a hit attack, it gets better. At least IMO. Also, attack speed and resolute technique passive for melee help the feel of combat also.

I know that thumb.gif He was asking if it effects spells too as long as you didn't have weapons equipped... So i told him how to find out.

Read my above post. I have met so many people that judge the game based on normal difficulty and when they are like sub lvl 30 at that haha. That being said, you ARE missing most of the time. Accuracy and enemy evasion play huge rolls.

Any tips against Merveil 2nd form? Solo ranger...kinda hard. Have two sapphire rings for cold resist, and I can kill first form but 2nd i get to half/ or 3/4 hp and then she randomly spawns those exploding squid in front of me and i die.

Ok this def helps explain auto attacks a lot makes sense now. Could you explain how my first three basic click abilities work am I supposed to auto attack then press q w or e for the added benefit? Do I spam one or the other or just seems clunky and I'm only referring to the spells red gems I have. Thanks

Not entirely sure what you mean. Are you referring to "auto-attack" as being your mouse buttons?

q,w,e, r and mouse buttons are all the same. You can assign any skill/attack you have to any of them. This includes the "auto-attack" as well; meaning you can assign your auto attack to "e" if you want to. A lot of players don't even use the default/auto attack once they have enough mana regen and/or blood magic. All depends on how you want to play.

The thing that a lot of players dont realize, and mainly the ones coming from say diablo 3, is that EVERYTHING is affected by something. IAS effects how fast you attack, ICS affects how fast you cast spells (auras, spell attacks, whatever has "spell" in its name), where as in diablo 3, you would never "miss" per se, a monster could "dodge" but the animations and audio always registered a hit, and attack speed/cast speed was the same. There was no "accuracy" in diablo 3. Only dodge. This game is not like that. Attack speed makes you attack faster, but without a high accuracy rating, your going to be essentially dealing the same DPS as someone with super slow attack speed but high accuracy rating. Same goes for cast speed.

Cast speed is also going to effect how fast you can spam your skills. If you have an attack skill and you want to cast a spell shortly after, this is when it would come into play. Just look at your skills. There will be a crit chance, a cast speed/attack speed, mana costs, etc... it will tell you everything. You can look in your character screen for your accuracy rating as well as your overall dps, but keep in mind that each skill has its own "dps". You can hover over your skill thumbnails on your quick keys on the screen to view their individual stats, so depending on your spam skill combo, you can be dealing more or less dps than what the character screen says. Diablo 3 for example never privied you to this info. They just gave you the sheet dps and you needed to figure out skill spam dps on your own.

Once all that crap is understood, the skills can change via the linked sockets with support gems obviousl. You do not need to do ANYTHING other than activate the skill via q, w, e, r or moue buttons to have those added benefits. Any support gems connected to a skill will also automatically modify the skill on the hover screen of the quick key thumbnail to show you the new stats (ie you have "ground slam" with "stun", "reduced mana cost", and "life leech" support gems. When you hover over the skill, it will automatically show you the new modified mana cost as well as in blue underneath will show you the modifed attributes of the skill (gain 3% life from phys dmg, reduced enemy stun threshold by 30%, etc).

Hope this kind of answered your question because I wasn't entirely sure what you meant. So I tried to answer it two different ways smile.gif In short, 1) you need cast speed if you want to activate spells quicker after you attack, or you need attack speed if you want to activate more attacks quicker after the initial attack; or 2) You need not do anything to have support skills added to your initial attacks as they are automatically taken into effect once the skill is activated.

Two questions about act 2 (figured out grouping up = easy merveil victory).

There are 3 bandits i can kill or help, what is the most popular option? I looked online at the options but can't figure out which one is better or why.

also, in the forest, there's a guy with a sword that constantly regens hp, how do i kill him? am i too low?

in the second form your going to need some type of aoe skill, she will barely hurt you from auto attack but the adds she spawns that explode will hurt, if you hit them a few times usually they explode before they are on top of you. Try using fire trap or rain of arrows on the adds.
