Downloading & I'll give it a shot ... I like Diablo 2 clone style of games like Titan Quest and Dungeon Siege.

I'm loving this game. Dark atmosphere, decent enough graphics (I'm sure they'll get better by launch) and what seems to be a balanced combat system (with what I've seen so far).

I love the skill system. Well laid out, and the leveling of skills separate from the character really takes me back. Need more games with these kinds of systems - not the cookie cutter "learn it once and it grows with you".

Only thing that strikes me is character model size - seems a bit bloated/big to me. Scale down by 10% and it'd be much better aesthetically in my opinion.

Title is misleading. Needs more context. For instance: "Path of Exile: A dark and gritty Diablo 3-style dungeon crawl"

Same here. I also like that not all skill gems level at the same rate. One of my newer skill gems levels at like 1/5 the rate of some of the others. Also, as you get higher level you find skill gems that have a much higher level requirement to start at level 1. The system works well so far (much better than simply knowing all skills and selecting what you want).

I'd even say I think I prefer this system over the system D2 had. Skills don't level unless they are socketed and they don't level with you.

A little smaller might be nice. But if you go smaller then it gets harder to see your toon and what they are wearing. I'd have to actually see it both ways to know which I would prefer. Maybe they should have an option to set a custom size so everyone could set it how they want.

Had a really early beta account a few months ago, loved it. Definitely will get into it again after it's final release.

Ended up playing most of the day ... this game is fun ... a LOT like Titan Quest and by extension Diablo 2. Really nice graphics and loot system, and the skill tree is INSANE.

Imagine the map in Skyrim, with every fast travel location exposed ... it's like that big, where you could put a skill point for every map location in all of Skyrim.

My only complaint so far is the thinness of the Lore, at least in this version of the game. You are playing with pathetically little 'context' or feeling like you're part of some greater story, and the game world is far from fully-realized. I mean most games of this style are kinda that way, but ... heck this one makes Titan Quest look like a Bioware game.

Still fun though thumb.gif

I agree. I was just thinking about how I thought they should add voices to the NPCs when I seen this. Even voices to some of the monster NPCs would be nice. I think I'll make a post about it in the forums. They may already have plans to do that.

From what I gather a lot of the planned features are still not implemented. Like the PvP league for example. But the game is still good and so long as they stay on track this will be a great game.

Last night one of the devs said voice overs and narratives were going to be implemented before launch, but they are putting that under the list of "Polishing" items rather than "Core game" features.

Understandable.

Another dev was on talking about the lore issue - from what he was saying it made me think there would be a lot more added prior to launch (maybe open beta?) but right now their main focus is stability and overall combat system readiness.

The passive skill tree. This is only passive skills and stats (Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity). Attack skills come from gems. Some supporting and other passive skills also come from gems. Gems get socketed in gear and the gem color must match the socket color.

Skills on gems level while you gain xp if they are socketed. But skills also have requirements for each level and can't level if you don't meet the requirements (they also can't be socketed if you don't meet the requirements). Requirements are stat and character level related. For example, you may need 28 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and character level 5 for a certain skill gem to be leveled up to level 3.
