ibuypower? or something else? FIRST TIME BUYER

Thread Starter
i have been looking around for a laptop that will support my needs for about a week now. i was looking at alienware m11x, but it isnt what i was looking for. and i was looking at the crazy amount of asus laptops. when i found the ibuypower site. after going though a list of options to customize my own laptop i thought that they were very well priced, BUT being a first time laptop/PC buyer i have almost no knowledge of wither it is a good deal.

the computer specks are
Battalion 101 CZ-12:
Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Mobile Processor
8GB memory
a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB 3D Video
500 GB 7200rpm Serial-ATA Laptop Hard Drive

everything else is stock.
and the total comes out to $1030

LINK:

First. is a good deal?
or would another laptop run better for a lower price.

Second. could i run games like crysis. Cod4 minecraft and other older games offline as well as online. with a steady FPS?

if there is anything else you would like to know just ask.

Sager and Asus get the most love around here for build quality and ease of upgrade.
Take a look at http://www.sagernotebook.com/ or http://www.xoticpc.com/custom-gaming-laptops-notebooks-intel-generation-mobile-ct-95_51_301.html to find something to suit your needs. COD4 should run easily on a laptop, as it has very low requirements to max out (it isnt the best looking game). You could run crysis, just dont expect to turn it up to max. Maybe med/high.

That seems like a good price, however I don't think it'll be as graphically powerful as you hoped. It'll run COD4 and Minecraft beautifully, but IIRC the 540M is about equivalent to the ATI HD4670 Desktop graphics card, but it's DX11.

haha yeah i noticed. but my budget doesnt agree with me wanting a asus g73

so what would be a decently good hard drive for the SAGER NP5160 off of the xoticPC website
500GB 7200RPM or something like 750GB 7200RPM

also would the nVidia GT 540M 1024MB be a better graphics card then the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB 3D Video from the ibuypower?

if you cant tell i know almost nothing about computer tech. but i am learning.

*Jaw drops*

Holy living ****! O_O

That's a steal!

1080p screen, 460m, Sandy Quad, Ample RAM and HDD space... O_O

EDIT:

I must be patient... by the time I need to replace my laptop, the upgrade will be ten times as noticeable...
