1090t help with too much ram ?

Thread Starter
I've been told and also read that the more ram you have the more difficult it is to overclock your cpu. I have my 1090t running at 4.1 stable. The temps are ok, but I'm using a bit more voltage than I'd like. Without getting into too many specifics I'm using 16gb gskill 1600, an h50 for cooling, and a 990xa-ud3 board. my ram is running at about 585 mhz per. should i take 2 sticks out and bump my speeds back up or is the fact i'm using so much kinda make up for the fact it's running a little slower ? I'm new to this obviously, but I've taken the proper precautions and she's stable. also runs at 47 in speccy which im adding 10 degrees to just to be safe. I should be running at 59 max temp. thanks for your help and please keep the flaming to a minimum.

I have 16GB of corsair RAM that is made to run at 1333MHz @ 9-9-9-24 and that is what I have it running at.

4 DIMM OC-ing was never a problem for me (see sig)
At 1600Mhz speed it is rarely (if ever) a problem for the Phenom II x6 IMC to handle.

See if you can reorganize the bus clock/multipliers so you can get the memory running at the rated 1600 CL9-9-9 (which should be possible).

Running two sticks can help with stability, but I'm wondering why you have 16GB in the first place. Do you need the RAM or what?

Hi,

Was just wondering if you could post your overclock settings as I have this board and processor but am struggling to get things as stable as I'd like; using Prime95 I get one core (random) error after about 15 minutes and it's only running @ 3.7.

Huge thanks if you get round to posting them
