How much of an upgrade is 2500k from current rig? - Page 2

It would be quite a hefty improvement actually. I went from a 1055t to my 2500k and it was the difference between being able to max out some games and not. I would definitely recommend the 2500k or if you want to stick with AMD wait a month and see what bulldozer looks like if it ever gets released.

As far as upgrades go.. I really don't know what to tell you except my 2500k at 5ghz gets 124 to 127 gflops in linx (quickest way to compare that i could think of). run linx on your chip to see what it does for you now.
Just to make the comparison accurate, what RAM size and Problem size did you set that LinX test to get the 124-127GFlops?
Since the RAM size will change the result GFlops.
I get 130GFlops with 6000MB+ RAM size, but get 127 on 3072 @4.7GHz with 1866 RAM.
Also OC RAM will increase the GFlops also.

whatever the program starts up at. i only made notes of the gflops for comparison while testing overclocks. and that's the only reason i know what mine runs at all honestly.

for the point of comparisons i would only use default settings anyways.,

Edit: apparently i set it to 2048. lemme run what OP ran to get him a better comparison.

Remember that AVX is optimized for sandy bridge. I got 60 GFLOPS on my 2600k before upgrading to Windows 7 SP1...
