Need help finding IPS HDTVs (around $500-$700)

I am trying to look for HDTVs that are actually IPS panels.

I read that they're better than the VA variants.

The problem I am having is that I heard that there's a thing called "Panel Lottery" where you can get screwed over.

I was looking at these monitors:

***********

1.) LG 47LK520 47 inch 1080 P LCD HDTV 120Hz for around $ 760.00

http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...tv-47LK520.jsp

2.) Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42 inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV 120 Hz for around $ 660.00

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...00000000005702

*Their main site says it's an IPS, but I am still scared of the "Lottery" thing.

3.) LG 42LV5500 42 inch 1080p HDTV 120Hz LED for around $ 710.00 but for only 24 hours

We wanted a Sony, but they seem overpriced... unless someone can justify their prices.

Any suggestions?

eh, if you want picture quality, plasmas are always best. However buying a TV is different from buying a computer monitor. you have to factor in more things when buying a TV. The firmware for example is hugely important for TV picture quality. Budget? Screen size requirements? How are you going to use the TV?

I kind of wanted a Plasma but there seems to be any consensus about Image Retentions and Burn Ins and how they're PITA with Plasmas.

As far as I can tell, there ain't too much of a difference when I saw them in brick stores. Kinda sad though, since I know, that "looking" for and at TVs in store is "pointless" since it does not replicate the area or room where I am going to put the TV.

1 thing's for sure, the room is bright 90% of the time and we don't really watch things in the dark (where I heard plasmas shine).

It's very hard.. for a first time buyer though (me).. Why risk Image Retentions and Burn Ins or frequent "maintenance" sessions of removing those IRs? (sure it can happen with LCDs but i heard that's too rare).

I love how plasmas are crazy cheap for the size though.

I do plan to use a PC (sig rig) and a PS3 with it.

33% PC/console gaming, 33% BD/DVD Movies, 33% SDTV/HDTV programs.

Also, as you have seen.. I am looking between 40+ inches and up!

So far, the best bang/buck I have seen is the LG 47LK520 120Hz for around 760 dollars.

Anything to beat that?
