will my sig rig run Half-Life 1 and 2? - Page 2

That question is almost sad enough for me to find my old FX5200 and just ship it to you for free ...

HL1 will be fine, I played through it on a p4 (3.0Ghz, HT) with a humble 825G chipset graphics. Played at 1024*768 and was quite happy

Couldn't even get HL2 to go to the menu though. Always crashed

I was about to say, despite the Pentium 4, why are you asking, until I saw the onboard video.

EVGA has a GeForce 6800 XT 128MB for $9.99 on their B Stock website, so if you have an AGP (looking your board up looks like it does), can you look at that? It's actually quite a deal despite the age of the card. I still have a GeForce 6800 GS AGP 256MB, which is sort of in a different category, as the XT was one of the slower versions, but it's still a GeForce 6800.

http://www.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp?switch=20

It's halfway down the page. It even has free shipping to your location.

Also, didn't you once have a faster PC? Is this temporary/secondary/or something?

Edit: Your 512MB RAM might be a slight low for Half-life 2 as well (before the engine update, it may have been fine probably). You'd probably want 1GB minimum really.

wow sweet find, but will it run on a starpower 450 watt?

yeah i got a phenom 2 rig with an 8800gt. this is an older Win 98SE/XP home gaming rig i got for free. so i need more ram? if i can get 99 cents I'll buy that 6800.

lol halo will have a stroke when i run it on that card right now it has zero colors everything is gray and flat without any textures. and framerate is crap 12-20 FPS on low.

Thats why i suggested a HD 3650, get the AGP version. But seriously, you dont want to be stuck on AGP and DDR1, the hardware becomes much more expensive than current slot versions

EDIT: Hold that though:

Hmm, Maybe time for you to upgrade? Unless you can't afford it.

Otherwise try Ebay, Although you have to trust the seller.

I find it ironic that EVGA would post the GTX 580 exactly below that card. look at the specs contrast
