Overclock

Thread Starter
Hi

I just bought this new pc

Motherboard p8z68 deluxe
Intel quad core 3.33 sandy bridge 2500k
Hyper 212 plus coolermaster 1 cooler installed

Current i havent clocked anything beside i enabled the turbo mode, but regarding this mode, then i have some questions.

Now my cpu runs 1600 mhz in didel mode an dthe temp is 37-41 idle
In load then it auto clocks to 4.200 MHZ and gets 56-60 temp.

So i want to ask about if it is any good idea to do a manual clock and perhaps get 4.6 or closer to 5 GHZ ??

My ram is ddr3 1600 mhz and i dont think they like to be pushed much more
I use corsair ddr3 1600 mhz ram like these

http://news.compusa.com/corsair-dual...-x-2048mb/595/

I just have 6 mb ram 2x2 and 1x1

And i would like to know how exactly what i must change inside the bios in order to overclock manual ?

any advise please ?

Enable AI Tuner and that should unlock the multiplier. I would turn off speed step, c1, c3, c6 until you get your of stable. You could try turning them back on afterwards to save power. Speed Step is what's downclocking and you need to set up windows power to performance.

You might stay cool enough for 4.8. Use real temp to watch your core temps. Try not to go over 80C. Just use the multiplier. You should be able to hit around 4.2 on stock voltage.

A friend of mine has reached 4.3GHz @ 1.152v using stock cooling; he didn't want to go higher because of temps.

Hope this helps, OP

That's good! Yeah, you may get more out of stock voltage or just a slight bump.

Off topic, why not unlock that chip you have to at least an X3? Only 1 core is usually defective. I sure got lucky with mine though!! I overclock higher than alot of the true X4's. The TDP is still 95w if you run it X3. Should not need more voltage either.
