proper cpu test on prime95

Thread Starter
I am currently OCing my 1090t and i am at 3926.2mhz on stock voltage. I have prime95 and i would like your input on how to see if this is going to be stable enough. so which test(and how do i run it) do i use with prime95? Or if you have any other programs that you recommend that'd be awesome too

thank you so much!

That's a nice OC. Prime95 Smal FFT will do great,
I would use IntelBurnTest with "High"/"Very Hign", IBT tend to give higher temps, and stress the RAM more than Prime95 SmallFFT/BLend

Prime95

You want to use blend-test and leave it for a few hours to test it for stability

ok i will try intelburntest also thanks! i notice that prime has those six windows with the processors 0-5 listed. will it tell me in those windows if any errors arise? or am i looking for a txt file after i stop the test?

thanks!

To test your whole system stability, yes, the Blend test, for about 3 hours.

To test your CPU overclock, then you want to run Small FFT's, for about the same time.

Blend test is used for whole system stability. You want to do Blend just in case something goes up with another part of your system due to the overclock. Say you raised the FSB, I would do this test.

Only do In-place small FFT's if you only used multipliers. This way it only tests the CPU.

I would try to do the Prime95 stability test for as long as possible. Some people get errors after 16-20 hours.

ok went out to eat and saw a movie (horrible bosses..pretty funny!) anyways i left prime95 going. it totaled almost 6 hours w/no errors @ 49c. 3.93ghz stock voltages. im only gunna be gaming and transferring lots of files so do u think that this is stable enough?

When I'm checking stability I'll start with 50 passes of LinX, 10-20 runs of ITB (on standard than again on max), than I go for 24 hrs of prime95 on blend. I also run SuperPi and finish with an over night run of MemTest86. I value my data and anything less for checking stability is not acceptable for me.

Here's a very good thread on stress testing http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/99...warning-3.html in particular, page 3 post #23.
