lol at brand loyalty.

Bought it on D2D a while ago. Don't care.

I am a loyal steam customer and even I can admit it is about time steam had some competition as it is good for us end users.

If you cannot see that imo you are blind.

I agree that competition is good, but forcing players to use specific services is not. If a download service wants to beat Steam, be better than Steam, not force people to use your service for specific games.

Of course I don't know the full reason behind this. SWTOR is clearly EA forcing to use their service. In this case Valve may be blamed also. It could be a similar thing to Crysis 2.

This, they are taking the wrong approach. They are going after the biggest DD service. Steam has earned its place over many years. Now EA wants to take its spot, not by the choice of the consumer, but by force. I know Valve does this with their games, but when they started doing it no one cared because there were no options. Now there are options and most people choose steam over all the competition because it is a better service. EA needs to make a better service. Make the consumers want origin then go exclusive.

I never said it exceeded like many games have. It lasted for a good while and had a playerbase to the end of it's existance. The fact remains that consoles CAN run 64+ (256 in MAG's case) player maps fine. Even if it is 64 players in 4 different sections, if you go into a certain area of a map you can see the other sections and all the players on the map all at once.

The game was pretty fun imo, the scale of the battles was awesome and presented something new to what was out on the market at the time.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it was a terrible game and nobody played it. I know alot of people that played it everyday.

I also agree that competition is a good thing.

However I also prefer things to be convenient. It's convenient for me to have all of my game library in one location (aka Steam). As such, looks like I'll be passing on BF3 unless the other downloadable sources to buy it from, do NOT require origin (or any other DRM like it). As long as I can download the game files and save them locally (and not have to ever touch the download source again), install the game, and put it in my Steam library (even just as a shortcut), I'm happy.

Won't buy it retail though, as discs don't last long in this house.

Out of curiosity, im seem a lot of people complain on how origin sucks, but whats wrong with it?

It installs games, and I can play games with it. Not sure how it sucks.

*yawn*

Again with this?

Good grief.

If the game not being steam enabled means you wont buy the game, dont buy the damn game.

Obviously the game isnt that important to you in the first place if the deciding factor for your purchase will depend on whether you click an origin icon or a steam icon to launch it.

This is getting old.

Its just EA downloader with a rename and some social features added.

I would bet that a good portion of people complaining have already been using "origin" for a long time already.

I'm sick of it.
Oh the capitalist argument... I'm so over hearing this espoused. This is capitalism WORKING, not malfunctioning.

EA is removing one of the biggest PC games since Crysis from the most popular gaming environments and putting it on THEIR service. This is an incredible strategic move by EA that will no doubt see a lot of gamers flocking to their service.

Let me ask you: If you don't buy their product, then how can you refer to yourself as being their customer?

Besides, it's video games. No need to inject politics into this... It is not that serious.

People can buy at store and if they are really that anti-Origin.
Say you want digital copy. Register on Origin and there's your digital copy. Don't want to deal with Origin. Buy it from Impulse or D2D and there's your digital copy. If you want another digital source than register on Origin.
Nice thing about Origin is that it isn't needed to be running to to play. I'll be buying in store and registering on Origin and then probably not open Origin again until maybe The Old Republic when I register that retail game on it.
Origin isn't that big of a hassle people and neither is D2D or Impulse.
