Artisan Hien - fraying and difference in vert/horiz glide?

While the overall build quality and texture are excellent, there are 2 issues that bother me.

1. There is a significant difference in vertical and horizontal glide. I've read a number of reviews and double checked thier website, with no reference to this. You can hear the difference in glide, with vertical movement being coarser. Rotating the mat also requires one to adjust sensitivity to match the higher friction.

2. Mine has started fraying after just 3 hours of gaming. All reviews suggest this mat doesn't fray easily. As my wrist rolls over the bottom edge of the mat, I expect it to fray gradually. Like my other mousemats, I hoped it would last many months before becoming a problem. At this point I usually rotate the mat, which brings me back to the first issue.

Is mine a dud, or have reviewers neglected to test this mat properly?

Before anyone asks, this is the standard soft mousemat, not the value edition.

I don't notice this axis issue. I will check it more thoroughly and report back. smile.gif

There are numerous loose threads on mine. I trimmed them with some scissors, but a few hours later more threads have appeared.

Cheers, that will help with the inevitable RMA.
