To start, it's AMD and nVidia, GTX = nVidia and HD = AMD... just for reference as others post

Best bang for buck usually lies in AMD territory, though I myself prefer nVidia's offerings, usually a bit more expensive but generally better drivers in my experience in the dual card region.

If you plan on sticking with one card, AMD's drivers are absolutely perfect, they just seem to act up more than not in a multiple card setup [aka Crossfire], while nVidia's offerings usually don't.

This is by *my* personal experience, some people have never had issues with AMD's drivers in Crossfire... just unlucky I suppose...

So if you are looking for the most popular you want the AMD.
oh ok thanks. Yeah I just want the most popular because that way you get better stability. I'm spending like 3000 dollars so I want it to be good

I think it's pretty important to know which company is more popular so you can maybe guess what games are more optimized for...nvidia or amd. I would think Nvidia.

If you're spending that much you better spend part of that on a Dell U2711 and build the setup around it.

Looking at your user name please dont tell me its an alienware. If it is you will probably get $1200 worth of hardware for that price.

I would say more games are optimized for nvidia not because they are popular but because nvidia pays them off.

However with all the next generation consoles getting AMD GPU's I dont see Nvidia staying optimized for long.
