Razer Nostromo Keypad Worth It?

Thread Starter
I have a Razer Black Widow Ultimate mechanical illuminated keyboard and I love it. I also have a Razer IronClad mousepad and that too is great.

I was looking at some videos of the Razer Nostromo and it really caught my attention. I'm in the process of getting a new mouse (Razer Mamba 4G) so I thought why not top it off with the Nostromo? drunken.gif

Do any of you have the Razer Nostromo? How do you like it? Does it function like it's advertised or is it just another fancy gadget that serves no real purpose?

I tend to play a lot of FPS games and so having this keypad would make things a lot better I think. I use my computer for work as well as photo and video editing. For all that, of course, the BWU comes in very handy.

For gaming, the Nostromo might be a great buy. What are your thoughts on this? Should I get the Nostromo?

Here's the official information on the Razer Nostromo: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.221675100/parentCategoryID.35156900/categoryId.53491100

id never use it over a mech keyboard for fps games, but i love it for games where i need to hotkey items/spells/skills/etc in games like daoc, eve online, ultima online. Keep mine up on my desk and use it as needed.

I use a Logitech G13, which is the same kind of device, and love it sometimes, hate it others.

Great for heavy left handed games though, the pad on the front makes a great wrist rest and keeps it from hurting at all, lol.

Also great for Macros. Used it a lot when editing articles in law school.

I have the Belkin n52te, which is the exact same thing, but Razer changed software and added some more customization. I can't play any game without it. It fits my hand perfectly, the macros are easy to do, and it's just an all around great gamepad, IMO.

I found the the device to be mediocre quality, and awkward when I tried it (earlier this year). All I needed was some macro keys, so I picked the Luxeed MK5. This is entirely different than an actual controller, and is just a macro pad.

If you find the Nostromo to be comfortable it could work for you. Mileage will definitely vary with it from gamer to gamer.

Yeah, find a place you can put your hand on one before you pull the trigger. It needs to fit or it's useless.

I have the N52TE. Basically as Demented said, pretty much the same thing. I would see if you can find someone who has either the N52TE or the Nostromo and see how your hand fits on it.

I love mine. Every game I have I have set up a profile to work with it. And the software that comes with it you can link profiles to applications so when say Team Fortress 2 loads, it will load the TF2 profiles automatically.

Great tool for gaming. You should (I hope) get the same experience with the Nostromo.

If you worried about razer's material quality (which most of this forum agreed), you can take logitech gameboard instead: http://www.logitech.com/en-roeu/gaming/mice-keyboard-combos/devices/5123
