A nice custom ROM would fix that. Bing would aggrevate me a bit though.

Samsung has really really dropped the ball with updates to the device and with rolling out OS updates to it.
I also had issues with lagging and responsiveness after decking out my UI on the phone that i do not have on my evo

Pros: Screen is very bright and looks good
Almost 2 years with my vibrant and no issues with battery. Did you try having it replaced?

Light does not equal cheap. I can assure you its built very well from my personal experiance with it (almost 2 years)

2.2 is out for it. GB is new and HC is only on tablets that I know of. What more do you want?

Lag seems to be an issue but that's an android problem. Not a phone problem. There are lag fixes out there. I currently experience zero lag. Like I said, 21MFLOPS and a 1725 quadrant score.

Edit: Not taking anything from your evo. I like them too. Just want to get facts out there for OP

The phone is great. Light, fast, amazing screen. However, there are, in my opinion, better devices out there now. The droid charge has a better screen, no bing, more ram, and I believe a bigger battery. The thunderbolt has more ram, higher build quality, and a bigger, if worse screen. The incredible 2 is also a really great option, with a less quality screen, more ram, and better build.

The TB can be had for $100, the Charge for $130, and the Incredible 2 for Free on Contract.

You can get rid of this, but you have to root it.

It is a verizon thing. They do it with almost all non-droid phones.

You realize the Vibrant will hit it's 1 year anniversary in 4 days? The 21st?

Gingerbread has been out for over 7 months. I know what more I'd want. I flashed a GB rom onto my Captivate. It's awesome that I can, but the thing should be updated by now. I'm amazed at how everyone dropped the ball with GB updates. Froyo was much better.

Thread Starter
I have been reading on XDA and the verizon forums that the latest update has screwed up the fascinate pretty bad. Thread after thread of people complaining about not getting Calls and when someone calls them it goes right to their voice mail.

I showed him all the threads on the issue so he decided not to go with the Fascinate.

Hahahaha!!!! So correct. Late night math didn't work out for me. I have had it for 9 months and for some reason last night i was convinced it was a year and 9 months. Thanks for that.

What GB rom are you on? Does GPS work?

What's he going to get?
there are so many better devices out there, don't get the fascinate. plus the thing is already a year old. with contract he'll be stuck with an already a year old phone for another 1-2 years.

At this day and age, the Fascinate is now relegated to mid-end status. Droid Incredible 2 or Charge if you're on Verizon.

Samsung makes crappy phones in my experience. Their hard drives are ok, their phones are abysmal, the TVs aren't bad but you can do better. I don't trust their stuff it always breaks on me.
