needing to upgrade gpu, considering 6670. any suggestions?

Greets, ocn! First time posting here, but have been a ling time lurker.
so prepare yourself now for any noobishness which may ensue.

As you can tell, i'm needing a gpu upgrade (desperately). I've been told that the 6670 could outperform my current card, and that i could upgrade to it without swapping out my crappy generic psu (300w) for a more powerful one.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, i'm just looking for something that could run most of the games i play at at least medium settings at my monitors native res (1920x1080).

What i play mostly these days:

Resident evil 5
Borderlands
Far Cry 2
dead space series
fallout series

I would rather not replace my psu if avoidable at all (can't say i have the know-how to do it) which is why i am looking into this low-power card.

So would this card be able to run those games and most other mid-end modern games at atleast medium settings at my native res?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

It's an OEM card, came with the system...
It's crap, to say the least.

Replacing a PSU is fairly simple, and although you would see some results getting a 6670 its not a very good card. A PSU however is a few screws and some cabling that you don't even have to organize. (I am ready for some bashing on that one) Also with most graphics cards worth their penny you may need to upgrade the PSU just so you have a 6 pin connector.

Can we get a budget estimate?

aye, suppose you're right.

hell, if i'm gonna be upgrading, might as well be to something with higher power req's.

How much would i be looking at dishing out for a decent psu?

I could afford to spend maybe $120 (canadian) on a psu, as well as maybe a couple hundred on a gpu.

A high power psu isn't nessecary, i cant crossfire / sli (Micro ATX mobo)

Probably aim 600w and under. 600 is overkill for you but affords you headroom for future adventures.

As for a gpu, well do you have a preference for amd or nvidia?

No preferance as to gpu brand, Can't say i've ever had any significant issues with nvidia but i wouldn't mind if the card was an AMD model.

any estimate as to how much a 600w psu would cost?

Just get the 6670. I had a 5670, which is the same card, and i loved it. Honestly people here hate too much. I could play crysis on High settings, Dirt 3 on high, Max out all the Assassins creed games.. Its a good card. Just buy it.
