for $50 more you can get a significantly more powerful GTX 460, or if you find an open-box GTX 460 it will cost you around the same as the 450.

I don't think I need THAT much more power, plus I'm on a budget and don't trust open boxes. Anything should be an upgrade from my 5570 though right?

Of course.

I've got four GTS450. They are great cards, equivalent to GTX 260 from the previous generation. They'll do nicely for folding or for non-intensive gaming, and they can be had very cheaply right now. Score one and you'll be happy.

your cpu basically does everything in the source engine, you would get 300 fps with his 5570.

but i find the 450 to be sufficient in eveything. i even play gta IV without a hitch, with icenhancer -AA at 1600x1200

Maybe go with AMD 6770?

Or NVIDIA GTX460 768mb

Otherwise the GTS450 should be fine for you if you really want to b on a budget.
